Clio 1.2 grande - Problem starting 20 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Hi I've had my Clio for 5 months never had any starting problems until recently. I changed the battery in the key fob it worked for a week then suddenly the engine turned over but kept cutting out as the immobiliser light kept flashing. I disconnected the battery and this semi-solved the problem. I had to attempt 3 times before the car would start but then it drove perfectly. -
Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 97 1.6 starting problems 9 Feb 2010 (Forum)
i'm having intermittent starting problems. it will start first time in the mornings. but after a good run i get problems that resemble starter motor issues. all the dashboard lights come on but nothing from the starter, not even the usual click!!! after a little while, maybe 30 mins it will start perfectly. i've had the battery checked and it is fine, both standing and under load. i've read on another forum that it could be the main connection from the battery to the starter motor. i've spoken to a couple of garages about changing the connection but they dont want to touch it unless they change the starter motor!! -
Audi A6 (2004 - 2009) - 2004 3.0tdi Electrical Gremlins 7 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have a 2004 (newer shape) A6 3.0 tdi SE Quattro. A few days ago it showed "battery level low" in the tv screen, looked at the graph and it was at about 5%, but the car started fine, the level has not moved it 3 days, the car is driven 150+ miles a day (mostly motorway). The battery voltage looks ok, and seems to be charging. -

Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1998 1.8TD Glow plug warning light 23 Jan 2008 (Forum)
for nearly 10 months the orange glow plug warning light on the dashboard has been intermittently flickering on and off whilst driving. sometimes it lights up and stays on for a while and other times it justs illuminates for a few seconds. on 2 occasions it has attempted to light up, though very weakly when attemptng to start the car but at the first attempt the engine won't turn over, but turning the ignition off and on again enabled the engine to start. new glow plugs were fitted a year ago and a new battery was installed november 2007, after replacing the battery the fault stopped for aroud 2 weeks then re-appeared. any help greatly appreciated. also, passenger electric window will not work, any suggestions? -
Austin (Rover) Mini (1972 - 2001) - 94 1275 Mini, Cutting out intermittently 30 Dec 2007 (Forum)
BUT.. today and once a few weeks ago this was a diffferent story when we went to crank it over there was minimal power in the battery... disallowing the starter moter to turn... after a bump start and driving 500 yds to a carpark and leaving the car for 30 mins and going into shops... it started fine... We are unsure what this could be.... poss alternator/battery... faulty earth?? -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - V Reg HDi - Electrical problems 6 Dec 2007 (Forum)
The rear wiper has always been temperamental, sometimes it does a full sweep, sometimes not but it?s never been a really huge problem. Over the weekend, she put on the rear wiper and the battery light came illuminated on the dash. She thought nothing of it and carried on. When she started the car the battery light had gone out again however now the back wiper has stopped working completely, her clock and exterior temp display no longer illuminate and her electric windows no longer work. -
VW Polo starting problem 15 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Couple of months ago the starter motor started playing up so I got another one from scrapyard from a VW Golf fitted it and the car started without any problem. Then few days ago the battery went totally flat and had to jump start the car. So I went and bought a new battery and then everything was back to normal. Now yesterday the same thing happend. Car started twice without any problem but when I was going to start it the third time it didn't start up and jump starting worked without any problem. -
Helpful Main Dealer - Shock 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The Peugeot barely turned over on the starter and wouldn't start yesterday morning. The logical thing to do was to think about the battery and maybe charge it up. Before anything else I knew that one day I'd need the radio code if and when the battery was disconnected and unfortunately I didn't get it when I bought the car. The 10 year old car had always been serviced at the same main dealer before I bought it last August and I thought I might just call them hoping they might give me the code number after a visit and a few pounds changing hands. -

Immobiliser on Mercedes S-class W140 24 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I can get in using the remote control; the doors unlock; but then when you go to start the car with the key, the red and green lights on the mirror come on and the car won't start. The only way round is to disconnect the car battery for TWO days. This then makes the car lose its settings and then it starts. Andy Gayle said put some new batteries in the remote, which I've done, but the remote was indicating a full charge. I'm not sure if it'll happen again and if so, when. -
Rover 45 2.0 TDi starting problems 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I have tried leaving the glow plug light on for longer before trying to start it, but the only thing which seems to eventually work is to pump the accelerator until it eventually catches. The car has covered 74,000 miles and although the battery appears to be the original the cranking speed seems fine and the battery condition indicator has always been green. Under normal conditions I hardly turn the key and she is away and runs great returning approx. 50-54mpg. -
Mondeo TD Electrical problem 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Even as we stood beside the car with the hazards flashing you could see the interior light dimming every time the flashed, this leads us to the probable conlcusion that the battery has died. But, there were no warnings of any problems with alternator, what exactly would cause a battery to just stop working in mid jounrey? Unless anyone can think of a more likely culprit for the lights dimming etc? -
Galaxy ABS warning light 17 Nov 2004 (Forum)
We replaced a worn-out battery on our V reg 92,000 mile Galaxy 2.3 Ghia X last week, after which we noticed that the ABS warning light came on. We phoned our local Ford dealership who said that this could be as a result of having disconnected the battery, and that we should run the car for about 150 miles during which it might reset itself. -
Vauxhall Vectra Fuse/Relay Help 14 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 1997 Vauxhall Vectra V6 SRi, yesterday when i turned the radio on and off very quickly the dash display froze, I had to disconnect the battery to get it to go off. On reconnecting the battery the instrument panel is not working, no speed, fuel gauge, also no indicators, no electric windows and no electric exterior mirrors are working, I have checked all the ordinary fuses within the car all seem to be ok, the radio now works ok again but these new problems have come about. -
More b****y Mondeo woes 19 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Left it to late to walk and they wont all fit on the Blackbird, so thought take the Mondeo it'll be ok for 5 mins. Battery so flat the clock doesnt even work. Kids wont take no for an answer, so root out the old battery I kept when I scrapped the Passat months ago. On with the jump leads and it starts first time. Well done Passat. -
