  I'd also struggle with the concept of paying for two useless seats in the back and worry about the reliability. Can anyone comment? BMW Z4 coupe - Certainly more sporty than a quiet motorway cruiser I imagine? Looks amazing though. Any one had an experience with these? RX8 - dont like the looks, TT - new shape often outside of budget My budget is aournd 14k.

  There are lots of companies offering it and they all seem straight forward enough. I thought I would call BMW to check that a towbar wouldn't interfere with the parking sensors and just to check that adding a towbar is ok. They said it needs an up-rated cooling fan and want to charge me £1,900 to fit a towbar and a cooling fan.

  Why? Two hundred thousand miles for a 1997 BMW V12 suggests a pretty sound motor to me.

  Nicely made car, felt far more solid than the Golf I owned and the Skoda (!) - everything shut with a proper thud. The motor was as silky smooth as any four pot from BMW and a vast improvement on the PDIs I've experienced - time will tell whether its as reliable though. Being a very long car (longer than the CRV at first glance although it was only a glance) it could have done with reverse sensors perhaps ?

  The radio on my E39 2001Y Touring has not been working for about two years - it hisses and crackles and you only rarely get anys sort of reception and then only for local radio. I took it to the local specialist, who could not see anything wrong and advised me to go to a BMW dealer. I did this and they could not see anything wrong but advised that it might be the amplifier (apparently replacing this cures about 90% of these sort of problems). Had a new one fitted (cost £132 for labour parts and VAT) and it made no difference.

  i took it in to a garage who said i need a new wiper motor? how can this be as the wipers do work?? i have posted this on three bmw sites and have had no answers yet,can anyone help me out there please!!!

  hi everybody, i've owned this 2001 E39 M5 5.0 V8 for amonth now, in that month she's been at BMW's workshop for the last 2 week's, i've spent a load of cash with them but still problem not solved. basically water is leaking from inside the gearbox, my mate has just stripped the box removing the clutch kit including the flywheel. now behind the flywheel is our problem, there's a housing which the water is leaking from, we've removed this housing all the water stored in the engine (to cool the piston's) bursted out. once this cover is moved two piston's are visable on either side. between these two pistons is ablank space with awee hole size of ant or even smaller, from this hole is our water leak, but i cannot figure out why it's leaking or how to stop it. thank's slt

  I have checked all the usual details but the only route to good reception would seem to be fitting a decent external aerial. I have fitted a new radio to replace the rather poor (non-bmw) existing unit. On another subject, do these cars have a separate speaker amplifier unit fitted, i.e the speakers are not connected directly to the headunit? This would explain the rather poor audio performance I seem to be getting, despite fitting a high-performance headunit.

  Full service history (non-BMW for last 40,000 miles) MOT until end of August. No known problems. I have tried a couple of on-line valuations but these seemed a bit unrealistic, even when adjusted for mileage. Cheers Pat

  If the tightness of the filler cap is crucial to the cooling system (which it is!), I'm puzzled why BMW make the cap so difficult to grip.

  Does anyone have first hand or good secondhand experience of the BMW C1 scooter? I have read many of the motorcycle press reviews but am asking the question here because the C1 is aimed at car drivers looking for occasional cheaper and parkable transport, and therefore the opinion might be different from that of a two wheel diehard.

  I need to know of any little fires that may have happened to the new 5 series. Or any electrical faults that could have lead to a fire. BMW reckon that my insurance company needs to prove that there was a mechanical or electrical fault before BMW will get involved but the car is a burnt out shell.
