Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - unlimited extras but no choice of drivers seat 9 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Plus i am firmly convinced that too many car designers are now designing cars for WOMEN with short legs therefore a short seat squab. which leaves a goodly portion of my legs unsupported plus why is Volvo about the only manufacturer to recognise that the seat squab need to be tiltable, fore & aft as well as height adjustable Me I still got a good old fashioned big bottomed businessmans seat out of an old Vauxhall Carlton, this bolt into an old 4wd. but man it's still a quare proper comfy seat Grrrr -
Vauxhall Signum (2003 - ) - Signum (ish) 23 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Would want the 3.2 Elite in an ideal world and Auto' which I guess is the only option. Other thoughts include a Volvo S80 or similar. All views appreciated. Best regards........MD -
Thoughts on DRLs (Day Running Lights) 3 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I've read threads about use of sidelights in poor visibility, which I think DRL's address quite nicely, though there fitment to my car was purely incidental. I noticed Fiat 500's, and many Volvo's & BMW's, and of course all those Audi led ones. Mind a lot of the Beemers seem to drive with lights on in daytime. I think they just like to pose with those "angel eyes" lights. -
Which convertible ? 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
ok its time to change the mini convertible, the boot is driving us mad. too small. we have had two bmw converts, they are nice, but just dont want another. we (me and swmbo) love the saab, around a 06 or 07 plate black aero 2.0 or 1.8 t i saw on here the worrying thing about the bulkhead cracking ! so my Q is should we look at the audi (just dosent do it for me- I dont know why?) or maybe volvo c70 convert? or what else? saw a jag xk8 convert 53 plate for £15k are these any good, mind you petrol in a 4.2 ? gutted the honda s2000 is only 2 seats - boo. Dumbest modified car you've seen 10 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Every time I see it have visions of the owner trying to sell it, and potential purchaser asking to look in the boot. Also keep seeing a Volvo 440 with twin 'spud launcher' exhausts, and an old Nissan Almera resprayed the same colour as David Dickinson with ott bodykit and huge spoilers. -
Motor Show 2008 exhibitors 20 Jul 2008 (Forum)
For example: BMW (they had a large outdoor stand in 2006, but I believe had previously not got involved at the NEC). VAG Volvo Does anyone know whether the website is simply out of date, or are the above genuine 'no shows'? I ask because, perhaps unusually, I've no particular interest in gawping at supercars. I use the events to have a good look at vehicles I might one day think about purchasing. -
Anonymous cars in adverts 28 May 2008 (Forum)
The other is the Direct Line insurance advert with the bricks falling on the car, something about the grill says Volvo to me, but the rest of the car doesn't. -
recommend me a diesel estate 18 Dec 2007 (Forum)
The budget suggest a highish mileage ex fleet car with FSH etc I probably prefer a prestige make Audi Saab Volvo BMW etc rather than the Ford Vauxhall offerings but not ruling anything out. Reliability performace and handling are key. No smaller than and A4/ Octavia size. Thanks -
JD Power survey 2007 results 19 May 2007 (Forum)
Ford is the Fusion. 2) Merc A-Class beats every single Subaru. 3) In the manufactuer's league table, Jaguar beats Audi, BMW, Mercedes, & Volvo . . . and they all beat Subaru (who are in the middle of the table with Nissan, Kia, and Ford.) -
New company car 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I have narrowed it down to a Mondeo ST TDCI, Titanium X 2.2, Golf GT TDI DSG, Audi A3 Quattro or a Saab 9-3 Vector Sport. In effect I can chose any car by Vauxhall, Audi, VW, Ford, Saab, Volvo and Jaguar. Also I am only 21 so I would like something that has "street cred". Thanks for reading and as I said, any advice is helpful. Aaron -
lowdown on rear vision 17 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Reading write up/test of Volvo's new C30, clearly this once "stuffy" car maker is trying to target the younger market with this sport coupe - a great looker, particularly (for me) for its welcome deep glass tailgate that enables decent rear vision for the driver. -
1.4 civic swap for? 8 Jul 2006 (Forum)
In 3 years of motoring the Civic has never let me down, so I am looking for something equally reliable. I have a Volvo v40 diesel in mind, and also a passat. Estate would be nice, as would multiple airbags and automatic transmission. Any suggestions for a vehicle around the £5k mark? -
This mileage obsession 21 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Dear backroomers I am trying to sell a 1997 Volvo S40. Its priced at £600 and advertised privately with 11months MOT/2 months Tax. The thing is, I have had about 5 calls and the first question every time is 'whats the mileage'. I tell them 105k. Most have just basically said 'thanks but no thanks'. -
Steel Wheels 4 Jan 2006 (Forum)
No it's not a Rolling Stones thread. Back in autumn I bought SWMBO a 99V RAV4 auto to replace her Volvo. It's a GX spec and as such has five spoke steel wheels and not alloys like you get on the VX and special editions. The car is really nice and the wheels were initially smart but with all the salt on the roads over the past few months they are now looking a bit scruffy with surface rust. -
Long-life batteries 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Sorry if this is an old chesnut, but as a newish member haven't seen it come up yet. My Volvo 740 purchased in 1998 is still on the battery I aquired it with. The friend I bought it off didn't fit it, so battery must be at least eight years old, only time it has failed to start car was once when I topped it up, guess I diluted the volts. -
Focus C-Max: good buy? 3 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Any one got any experience of running one of these? I need the space and can't stomach the idea of paying around £17k for a similar-age used Volvo V70 (my original choice). -
premature breakdowns 23 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I've been driving volvo cars for a number of years now. My car at the moment is a S80 T6, I thought it was my dream car, expensive(for me anyway)6months old,10,000 miles on clock, pristine condition. Within a week I was having trouble with central locking - car taken back to garage to be sorted, Then driving on M275 car died, transported back to garage. -
Car Phone Kits - Where to buy? 24 Feb 2005 (Forum)
It would need to mute the stereo and either have a seperate speaker or be wired into the stereo's. Is this likely to be a problem with a new Volvo? Any recommendations or tips appreciated! And no, I don't want one of those silly things people stick in there ears............ Cheers! Gavin -
Oil consumption ? why? 4 Feb 2004 (Forum)
My first car, a Triumph Mayflower which cost £10 of carefully saved pocket money, left a smokescreen behind when it pulled away, because the piston rings were worn. But all my subsequent cars have needed no oil at all. My Volvo on 290,000 does 20,000 miles a year and I never see the oil level dropping by so much as half a millimetre. Why is it normal for some modern close-tolerance engines to burn oil ? -
Fiat Punto '99 - '03 - Good Car? 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I've just changed jobs. I used to have a 50 mile round trip every day so needed something big and comfy (so chose a Volvo S40 2.0CD). I now work a 10 minute walk from where I live so I'm looking to change cars to something cheaper to insure, tax and run and I quite like the Fiat Punto ('99 - '03 range). I've been looking on AutoTrader and for a two year old 1.2litre with about 20 - 30,000 miles in a nice metallic colour you're looking at about £4,000.
