Ultimate Tacky Car ! 1 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I have previously posted that I think the BMW 5 Series with the 4 headlight "rings" on was one of the smartest sights on the road at dusk. However, I saw one today and they had obviously replaced the standard bulbs with blue ones - 4 blue rings on a late model BMW 5 series - I could have cried there and then!! -
Oil change frequency 22 Nov 2003 (Forum)
In his column, HJ is always insistent that oil should be changed well before 9K miles. This then puts him in conflict with the boffins at BMW, whose service interval indicator system bases its advice in part on a sampling of the oil. In my case this gives a service interval of about 13K miles. So where should we place our trust? HJ's caution and experience, or BMW's techno-wizardry? -

BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe - BMW buying experience 30 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Hello After much deliberation I decided to buy a BMW (428i) - my first ever BMW. My budget was for an approved used vehicle at about 3 years old. I finally found something at the BMW Cooper dealership in Ipswich. This car had all the options that I wanted and was ideal however when I called the dealership this is what I am left with - - No option to transfer the car to another franchise garage (Coopers in York is closest to me as I am in Dewsbury) - They can drive the car to me for a cost of £250 for me to look at and test drive at my convenience but if I decide to buy it I cannot keep the vehicle due to some distance selling rule. -
BMW 1 Series - Advice needed - reject options? 9 May 2016 (Forum)
I have purchased a 1 Series BMW last week, 2008 model and after a few days use I noticed an uneven noise on the engine which it seems may be the timing chain issue (these were temporarily repaired free by BMW but the period closed end of 2015. -
help choosing a sporty estate 8 Nov 2015 (Forum)
page=1&sort=pricedesc&postcode=b756tx&make=skoda&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&maximum-age=up_to_4_years_old&model=octavia&radius=1500&body-type=estate&maximum-mileage=up_to_30000_miles&price-to=13000&search-target=usedcars&logcode=p I'm tempted by the BMW although I'm being warned of the expensive repair costs associated with the BMW. This is the first nice car that I've ever bought and I cant really afford to make the wrong decision. I've read that the Sokda's are fab cars but I dont feel very excited about buying one! -
BMW 316I SE - Stick or Change 3 Jun 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I am new to the forum but have been following various discussions over the years and very much enjoyed it. I have a query I hope a few members may have an opinion on. I have had a 53 Reg BMW 316i SE saloon since 2006 23k. It has now done 133k with a full BMW service history. Never really had any issue with it other than a coil pack failure at approx 60k. It is due an MOT in March and will require the following work: I think it has a hole in the Exhaust back box, not sure if this is an issue or not, does not appear to create that much noise? -

BMW 1 Series E81/E87 (2004 - ) - 06 130i M-Sport Engine Tappet Noise 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
When the engine is cold, or if it has been driven a short distance, left, then started up some time later, there is an intermittant tappeting noise coming from the engine. The first time i called BMW service out and it didn't make the noise. It went to my local dealer who changed the oil and couldn't find any problem. Since then it has been doing it on an intermittant basis, but ALWAYS when the engine is cold. -
BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 318 low power when cold 26 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I have a BMW E46 2003, 318 M Sport Convertible. When I start the engine from cold it idles at about 1000 RPM, a few minutes later when it has warmed up slightly the revs drop to around 650-700RPM which I think is normal behaviour. -
Sat Nav problem 10 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I asked for the work to be done under warranty.... not unreasonable, the car is just less than 3 years old, and surely a DVD based sat nav system is designed specifically so that the customer can upgrade the discs. As far as I'm concerned the car is faulty"and that BMW should pay for the software to be upgraded... On the basis that new versions of software are constantly being released to "bug fix" potential faults, wouldn't you expect a BMW approved used car to be at the latest software level when you buy it? -
Omega 2.5TD (BMW) strange power loss 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I have just bought a 1997 Omega CDX Estate with the 2.5TD BMW engine (Manual) .It has 70k on the clock. In general the car seems fine, (Dispite hitting a Deer 24hrs after purchasing it and ripping the near side mirror off). My query is this: I decided to see what the car could do. -
found out my car has been clocked 19 Nov 2003 (Forum)
before you all say you should have checked and yes i know i should have, why is it when we see a car we want we go all out to get it? I bought a 1997 R plate BMW 328i coupe auto with 54k on the clock. I cant get into the "BMW driving experience" so im going to change it. Ive gone to a garage and after a bit of digging around, or the fact is ive been informed that 2 years ago at a BMW garage has had the vehicle in for what ever, it had 82k on the clock. 9 months later it has gone in to a BMW garage and it is recorded as 44K on the clock. -
BMW 335 - An afternoon out. 21 May 2007 (Forum)
Everything is just right inside, the leather's aromatic properties overcome the trend of recent BMWs to smell gluey, I immediately felt at home in this car, I could close my eyes and know I was in a three series despite the fact I'd never driven the latest shape version. Just right. Roadwise. BMW seem to have overcome the problems they had with the run flats, despite it's 18 inch wheels, the ride was flat and smooth (definitely smoother than SWMBO's Golf), handling on some of my favourite bends was predictable and as safe as anything, there is no drama in this car, everything happened as expected. overtaking was totally effortless (as it should be) - maybe it was slightly disengaging to drive, only because it is so good, very very good. -
