  • Can you haggle on used cars from dealerships? 13 Aug 2023 (Forum)
I've overheard other customers haggling, but not the outcome of their efforts. Some dealerships have told me there's a discount available by using their PCP finance option, from the finance provider, but only for new cars.

  • Citroen c4 hdi - Faulty car on finance 18 Nov 2019 (Forum)
I have a car on finance that had a warrantee which ran out literally weeks ago within a week of it running out I have had to get the dpf filter cleared at a garage, the radiator fan blew a fuse link and now been told that it has an engine knock which requires a new timing belt and bearings, a new water pump while they are in there and possibly a new camshaft pulley.
  • Citroen C4 Cactus - Safety Recall on Financed car 13 Aug 2019 (Forum)
My concern with this is to the best of my knowledge since I bought my car from an AA approved dealer and had finance on the vehicle that this should have been picked up before they car was issued to me? (I bought the car in Dec 2018) was it legal for them to allow the sale to go through? I'm by no means a legal expert but it all seems strange to me.

  • Cars with outstanding HP 30 Apr 2004 (Forum)
So Mr Stanley might lose his car, that I understand, but is he really liable for the outstanding finance. If the AA is correct, perhaps I shouldn't be so casual about buying unchecked old bangers that might have hundreds of thousands of pounds secured on them...

  • mini one - buying a used car from an approved dealer 6 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Hello everyone, Is it normal for car salesman to want to talk about finance first when you have expressed interest in a car. I booked an appointment to see a couple of cars and the first thing the salesmen wanted to do was sit down and talk finance before i had seen the car.
  • KIA Cee'd (2007 - 2010) - Kia Ceed car value ? 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi everyone. My daughter bought a new Kia Ceed s 5 door for a total price £9300 December 2008,on finance. She has done about 13000 miles in it. She is now realising that it is tough to make the payments and is thinking of selling it and buying an old banger. She owes £8100 still on the finance. Anyone any idea what she might expect to get for it ?
  • FIAT - How much discount? 30 May 2008 (Forum)
I know it will vary from dealer to dealer, but how much discount from the RRP can you reasonably expect if taking out a finance deal. The dealers must be aware of how much the cars can be sourced for elsewhere i.e. Broadspeed etc. Basically, I want the payments to a dealer to be comparable to any other way of financing whether it be personal loan for a discounted car or a PCP from a web based company.
  • Vauxhall Corsa - Vauxhall corsa ECU Problems 30 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I have had a vauxhall corsa out on finance now for about 4 months. Since having the car, I have had to get a new tyre, the break pads replaced and now the ECU has gone on the car . The garage who sourced the car from the finance company provided 3 months cover on the car and it is slightly out of this warranty.
  • Vauxhall Corsa vxr - Vehicle sold unfit for purpose 5 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Collected vehicle after last repair, still problems.  Having communicated these issues with the Finance company, was told not to go back to the dealer that they would take action.  The next thing I receive an email from Finance Company's solicitor.  This was in May 2012, the dealer has come back to say we do not have "reasonable grounds" to reject this vehicle and repudiate the HP Agreement.

  • Car finance getting too much. Help. 10 May 2006 (Forum)
Of the settlement figure of £17,900, any part-ex will be subtracted from that figure so if he gets, say, 14,500 part ex, he still owes BCT £3,400. and apparently, most finance companies won't let you carry over that much of a shortfall over to your next financial agreement. Is he knackered? Any wacky, zany, or otherwise crazy ideas are very much welcome as are sane ones.
  • rover 75 estate - car checks 17 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I have recently been looking to buy a new car, after looking at a few i deciced to get some car checks done so there is no worries but what a diffrence in prices for these checks, a friend of mine has been stung before as a car he bought had outstanding finance on it so i wanted to make sure that wouldnt happen to me. The free checks dont tell you much at all and the couple of quid checks dont offer finance history, then it jumps up to 20 quid. Experian does do a deal where you can do multiple checks that brings the price down but is still 20 for one.
