  • Cheapest cars with 360° bird's eye parking cameras 14 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I was just wondering at what price cars roughly have to reach at the moment before you can have one with the 360° bird's eye view cameras for parking.
  • pod cameras 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I'm sure all motorists are aware of them, the new cylindrical cameras mounted on pods, usually on main roads . What would happen if an insured and MOT'd but untaxed vehicle would drive underneath them ? A contact has posed the question - I promised to investigate .

  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 50 [Read Only] 28 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Tories would abolish the partnerships that currently run speed cameras, and make their use more transparent. "That means publishing the information that's now kept secret on each speed camera's record on safety and on fines, so local communities can judge for themselves whether a camera should stay or whether it should go," Villiers said."
  • The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 30 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
However just lately I can't really be bothered as we are going over the same arguements time and again and I feel that the overwhelming evidence is that the fixed cameras at least are nothing more than revenue raising devices and most people now agree with that. Today neither speeding thread is anywhere to be seen on the first or second page and so I ask the question are we Tax Cameraed out?
  • red light camera v5 not in my name 26 Jul 2014 (Forum)
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help I brought a car off a dealer but the v5 isn't in my name yet, think I might have been caught by camera where will the ticket go to?
  • A1 (M) Roadworks J1-J2 13 Sep 2006 (Forum)
At present rather than the usual warnings of the approaching speed limit at 1 mile, 400 yds, 200 yds etc, there is just a solitary mandatory 40mph sign to introduce the start of the lower limit, so the limit goes from from 70mph to 40mph. I have spotted the odd SPECS camera on this stretch though some of the posts don't have cameras on the yet. There are no warning signs about the SPECS cameras. Spoke to the Highways Agency who said the 40mph is enforcable, but the SPECS cameras according to her records aren't to be turned on till 17th September.
  • Retreat on Speed cameras? We will see 30 Oct 2001 (Forum)
This from todays Daily Mail. Page35. Tough restrictions on the use of speed cameras have been drawn up by ministers in an attempt to placate motorists. Police forces will have to paint the cameras bright yellow and there will be a clampdown on the number of undercover units. The rules also reinforce earlier guidelines that speed cameras should only be used in accident black spots or areas where speeding is a problem.
  • Ford Mustang - 30 mph traffic light camera 6 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Hi All, After some advice. My local road (A38) Mansfield has an average speed limit of 50 mph with average speed cameras. One of the sets of lights along this stretch used to have a red light camera (been there for years) now it seem they have swapped it out for a 30 mph speed camera. The stretch of road is less than 200 yds from where the 'New' 30 MPH sign has gone up until the lights.
  • Speed Camera fine 25 Oct 2017 (Forum)
At 2.00am the hospital rang me to say she was having trouble breathing and to come to hospital. As we were travelling there I passed a number of speed cameras that I know and drove accordingly. One in particular at a set of signals flashed as I went through on green. I couldn't believe it but I think it was a dual speed camera and red light camera in one box.
  • Red Light Camera Incident 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Driving home last night I managed to get my timing right at the traffic Lights on the A446 near Coleshill where there is a red light camera (the one NBH stood beside years ago as she did an item on speed cameras!) the lights turned green just before I reached the stop line in the right hand lane so I did not have to stop. Car in front of me in the inside lane didn't get the timing right and stopped just past the white line while the lights were on red.

How many times have you driven through an unfamiliar town and spend more time looking out for speed cameras and concentrating on your speedo than paying attention to the road in front.I know i do.
  • Physicist - speed camera on bend "inaccurate". 27 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Iain Fielden, who works at Sheffield Hallam University, was clocked travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone by a speed camera in Huddersfield. He argues that the reading was inaccurate because the camera is located on a bend in the road." (from The Daily Telegraph:- http://tinyurl.com/2vlycq) Technically, some truth in the matter, but I bet it won't affect the outcome!
  • These M25 new camera threads 4 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Anyone else get the feeling that the whole thing is a hoax? The messages which seem to come on a regular basis, keep talking about the "current" cameras and that in a about a weeks time will go live with lower settings. Well as of this morning there are a total of zero cameras between J12 and J15 and I can't see how they intend to install, test and activate these new installations in that timeframe.
