  How can I disconnect the permanently-on lights on my 'new' 940? Her Indoors sees nothing wrong with them, but after 30 years of flashing my headlights at Volvos and saying "look, that silly prat has left his lights on" I do feel a bit of a hypocrite. Saabs have a (marked) fuse that can be pulled out. I can find no such thing in the Volvo.

  Our Volvo 760 Turbo (B230ET engine) needs 'SuperGreen' 98 Octane unleaded. This is not easily available so have been using LRP. Been told by the Volvo owners club not to use LRP in a turbo engine: 1. Why?

  There always seems to be discussion about CR diesels causing problems with pumps going wrong etc, but volvo D5's seem to be more reliable or am i imagining it.

  My son's Volvo 440 TD lights pulse up and down at any speed above idle. With the flickering, the car seems to judder in the low gears off the throttle, and is in sync with the pulsing. Is the alternator at fault?

  I'm changing the drive belt and 'fan'belt on a 1.8 volvo gdi engine. Does anyone know if the tensioner is automatic on this (no owners HAYNES for this particular engine). Also does anyone know what the tension should be? Appreciate any help.

  Hi, My MOT for VOLVO XC60 failed with reason "Offside Side repeater not working" and my MOT expires on 3rd March. MOT was done by  Halfords and they said only Volvo dealer can fix this with note :  "Unable to repair repeater light.

  In cold weather (below 3 degrees) my Volvo V50 Diesel (2009) has no power. The car has recently had a new map censor, a new intake temperature censor, new boost control solenoid and the EGR cleaned. all to no avail. It is also showing P0299 turbo under boost in the diagnostic faults.

  According to another motoring website, Volvo has stopped selling diesel XC-40 models. I know that internal combustion engines are on their way out, but having developed the Diesel engine and given that they use the same motor in other models, it seems a strange decision.

  I realise that there are some discrepancies between the British and American car markets. For example, prices are similar in dollars to pounds. Volvo in the United States has announced a mid life upgrade for the XC60 including a full sunroof as standard on all models, and a better trim on the R design. Is this likely to happen on European, and in particular UK models?

  I'm looking to swap my 2007 Ford Focus Zetec estate for a similar aged Volvo S40 (probably 1.6 petrol) as I can't tolerate the back pain the Focus is giving me any more. Has anyone got any comments on the S40 of this age, good or bad? Are the seats comfortable for long journeys and has anyone got a realistic MPG for the 1.6 petrol?

  Saw a V40 on the way into work and thought I would look to see how much and what specification I can get . . . . after all I do need to order a new car. The Volvo web-site gives me loads of pictures and information but no prices and no indication of what I get for my money (e.g lists in features "manual seats" and "electric seats" but nothing about which version has what or how much I have to pay!

  Hi there, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice on the value / best way of moving my Volvo? The car is a 850 GLT 96N 2.5 Auto Estate, in metallic silver. The mileage is pretty steep - 146,000, but a full Volvo service history. What would be the best way of describing it in an ad so as not to get too many calls, then hang-ups when the mileage is mentioned.

  I have a 2001 Volvo V70 2.4 SE (170bhp) Auto, which I purchased from a main dealer in Feb this year. It had 11,000 miles on the clock and prior to me taking delivery it had been through the Volvo used car check which appears to be pretty comprehensive.

  I'm thinking of buying a late pre-owned Volvo V70 2.4 T SE and saw one advertised at a good price by a Volvo dealership. When I went to see it I found out it had been imported by a member of the armed services under the TDS (Tourist and Diplomatic Scheme).
