• Citroen Xsara Picasso - accelorator sticking 24 Jan 2013 (Forum)
  I own an Exclusive (automatic) 04. Yesterday the accelorator stuck at (racing) high revs 3 times; once with my grandson in the car. Thankfully I was going under 30 mph; put into neutral and turned off engine. Put on hazards and drove into kerb.

  Central locking useing key fob is not functioning "for past 12 months" recently when locking the vehicle with the key the windows automatically go up and down.. in order in operates is "Locking Vehicle windows go down" " Opening the Vehicle windows up".. anybody came across this problem before? or shead a bit of light on this would be greatfully accepted.

  [No idea if the letter is correct} Following a recent family bereavement, we have a 1995 Vauxhall Astra Merit Automatic with only 12000 miles on the clock. Is there any market at all for this, or is it simply a one-way trip to the scrap yard? This seems an awful waste, as the car is in reasonably good condition, though I realise the mileage is a bit on the low side!

  However, it looks as though this clutch /DMF problem is widespread in modern diesels. If I had selected an automatic version would I have still encountered this problem, or possibly another stack of issues please?   
• Vauxhall Corsa C - Transmission fault on semi auto when wet 8 Sep 2010 (Forum)
  When driving In very wet weather the "F" warning comes on and the gears (manual and auto) don't function. Local Auto gearbox specialists won't look at semi automatic and told me to contact the main dealer, who quoted £75 for a diagnostic check and said they would then probably refer to a specialist! The transmission works fine in dry conditions, so I think it is a problem of moisture getting into the electrics or sensors, but I am worried about clocking up big bills for a relatively minor fault.

  i want to install 6 sprinklers in the garden linked to a Hozelock automatic water timer. The sprinklers will be pushed into the soil and the hose hidden so its a permanent solution.  At the moment with 6 sprinklers going the pressure is a bit low. How can i boost this?

  Does not happen all the time and no obvious pattern to when it happens. Seems to generally affect the whole of the recording, but has happened mid-way through some. Automatic software updates is enabled and re-tuning has no effect! Model is DMR EX75EB-S Any suggestions as to the problem?

  See here: http://www.honda.co.jp/CR-V/catalog/ So far there's no information about specification changes, although there is gossip about the i-DTEC diesel engine, automatic transmission for the diesel and a rear facing camera that doesn't rely on the navigation/hands free phone option.
• Austin (Rover) Mini (1972 - 2001) - Issigonis' gearless prototype 21 Jul 2009 (Forum)
  I only found out today that Alec Issigonis had designed a gear less mini. I was wondering if this was a forerunner to CVT automatics ? Anyone know how it works ? Must have been economical. I could be wrong though Google has plenty of pictures of the car but no details at all. I believe the Heritage Motor Centre has one on display (bit far for me to drive to).

  He's looking at the Focus 1, 2003/04 but I can't advise on which engine would be most reliable and work best with an automatic box, which he wants. Economy and reliability are the priorities. Is the 2.0L much more thirsty? Would a less punchy 1.6L safeguard the gearbox better?

  Hi,been looking for a medium or largish automatic,and its probably come down to either an Avensis or Vectra,2005 or above. I have also test driven a Citroen C4 auto which i liked,and there is some very cheap ones around!...but their reputation is not very good,particularly autos.

  The car is an automatic diesel. I start from cold and move off slowly. If I lift off from the accelerator to meet the first speed bump after 30 metres, the revs drop and there is a noise for a second like driving over a cattle grid, accompanied by a judder.

  Hi, everyone. I've got a 2001 Audi Allroad tdi automatic. I am currently experiencing a problem with my air suspension. It seems that the front suspension is struggling to raise up. Once I press the "go up" button, the rear suspension goes up straight away, but the front one will take very long time to go up.

  Our car's an automatic. Whilst driving, the symbol is lighting up, and the car starts kangarooing. Sometimes the car will continue, other times it cuts out and can then be difficult to start up. We have changed the EGR twice since we bought the car (four years ago) and we had originally wondered if it was that that needed changing again (last time we changed it was just over a year ago).

  Just started up my mothers' 1.6 'Mardi Gras' automatic, because she said it has developed a knocking noise. It is there at idle, and it does increase with engine revs. I've moved it backwards and forwards on the drive just using Reverse and Drive with no additional input from accelerator, and it moves smoothly with no juddering.

  I have 70lt toroidal tank-56lt capacity, only two pumps managed over 50lt and most seem to be 37 to 40lt. As the switch to petrol is automatic I am assuming the gas tank has been empty when I have re-filled.

  Is there a benefit to owning a diesel for 20k miles of motoring per annum? I'd be looking to swap a manual 1.9 TDI passat (130) for an............ automatic 1.8 petrol Volvo V40 Can anyone advise me on the potential difference in fuel costs?   my golf is a 1.6 sohc automatic engine type bfq the throttle is drive by wire [no cable] after its mot the tester told me couldn't hold the engine speed at 3000 r.p.m he even tried using a special tool on the accelerator pedal when i got the car back i tried to hold the engine speed to a fixed r.p.m i couldn't the car drives normally on the road and i can hold it at any speed i like any ideas?
