Peugeot 308 - Jump start: Negative terminal is not reachable 11 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi all, I have two Peugeots, 308 and 307. 307's battery is drained due to forgotten headlight. So I am aiming to run it by jump starting from 308. However, the problem is, the negative terminal of the 308's battery is not reachable. I can reach it by removing the red thing on top of the battery but I guess the car won't start before the jump start if I do so. -
Ford Focus Estate - Ford Focus Mk1 - Petrol or Diesel? 27 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I like the fuel economy of the Focus diesels (hj's real mpg suggests 36mpg petrol vs 48mpg diesel) but I'm worried about the horror stories of older diesels failing expensively (the DMF problem). My choice for the Mk1's (and Mk 1.5's) seem to either of 2 diesel engines, the 1.8TDDi and the 1.8 TDCi, or the 1.6 petrol engine. I would appreciate any comments or advise on which is the better to buy. I do about 10,000 miles/year, including long runs from East Anglia to Scotland 4-5 times a year -

Cadillac CTS - I bought a 2006 Cadillac CTS one year ago and... 21 Jul 2010 (Forum)
averaging about 23 mpg, but it gets hit hard around town - a decent run achieves high 20's to average it out. It 's very easy to drive quickly but also slowly at say 50 mph on the motorway. This is because there is no apparent difference in interior noise at 30 mph or 70 mph - a great motorway cruiser and easy to drive. -

Volkswagen Sharan (1995 - 2009) - 98 1.9TDi no power 30 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Diesel. when the engine got warm ( normal operating temp) it would not change gear, I.E. over taking at 50 it would not change up. I replaced the accelater pedel & potentimenter. it 's still playing up I.E. at 40 m ph, 3000 revs, max ease my foot off gas and re apply no change. having to slow down and accelerate slowly. also: engine cold, accellerating it changes up through the gears but it 's black smoking, which it hadn't used to. now i can only get upto 50 mph, where as before in the same distance i could get up to 70 mph, not as much power thanks john -
Do noisy tyres last longer? 18 Aug 2009 (Forum)
significantly quieter, but only doing about 18k miles. For the mileages that we do, this difference equates to about an extra year?s use on the front and a couple of years on the back. I can?t say that we noticed any difference in grip/handling etc between tyre types but that?s probably because we don?t drive on the limit, and we tend to anticipate dodgy situations. -
Rover 45 (1999 - 2005) - 00 1.8 Never starts first time/stalls on Drive 29 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Once I?ve been through that whole routine at the start of the day, it?s fine. I took it back to the garage a few times after buying it, but they always claimed it started for them, so they couldn?t diagnose the problem. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? -

Just bought some new tyres 16 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Vredstien Ultrac Sasanta While scanning for tyres I came across "Gislaved" tyres - now they bought back memories from late 60's early 70's - I put some on my Mk2 Zodiac - they outlived the car but by heck they were dodgy in wet - came to roundabout full right lock and just carry on - they were hard rubber - anyone else remember them? -

Your planning re possible fuel shortage next week 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)
(given the current shutting down of the Grangemouth refinery and threats by others to make the situation worse) 1) What`s your plan if there are fuel restrictions? 2) What happened last time in 2,000 and will experiences from that mean a different approach? 3) What`s your range from a full tank 4) what are you definitely going to follow through with if restrictions get severe?
