• Peugeot 308 - Pump noise @ rear when filled up fuel tank 3 Sep 2013 (Forum)
  Hi, on 3 occasions in last six months about 2 months apart each, just after I have filled up my diesel fuel tank I have heard a pump running type noise which appears to be coming from the rear of the car. It only lasts for the first couple of minutes after driving away from the station and there are no warning lights etc - any ideas?

  i noticed a strong smell of petrol at the rear of the car, took car to my local garage he thought it maybe the breather pipe, but no such luck it's the actual fuel tank that is leaking, he reckons a new one from vauxhall is between £200 + £300, he advised me to try and find a second hand one, which i've done it's a used one with 1 months warranty as i'm currently unemployed this is really my only option, with p + p, vat it totals £48.00 but it depends on how much labour he's going to charge me?

  Hey i own a passat 2.0 20v petrol sport 52reg i have owned this for about a year now and the fuel consumption is getting considerably worse. I used to get roughly 100 miles to £20 which is about 400 miles to a full tank which is £80 which i was quite happy with. Now i am lucky if i get 50 miles to £20 and 250 miles max to a full tank just wondering if anyone else had come across this or any one know how to fix this issue.

  The car has been started a couple of times in the last 18 months, however, it won't start now. It does kick up with easy start, but dies straight after as the fuel is not getting to the injectors. The glow plug lights are not illuminating on the dash and I have changed the fusible link under the bonnet but to no effect. I have read that the problem may be down to the ECU but don't want to fit one if there is a less costly remedy.

  When running, engine behaves as normal. 115000miles on clock. Owned it for last 16000. Replaced plugs, fuel filter, air, oil 2000 miles ago. Fuel tank 1/3 full. Thought it might be fuel lock so removed the filler cap, problem persists just the same. I have no idea where to start next.

  Some time ago i had my fuel system tampered with by some sand in the tank ! . Since i have replaced Injectors fuel pump injector rail fuel filter and have cleaned the tank out 3 times. My car now starts first turn of the key but it has no power wat so ever wen driven.

  -- title start -->2003 nissan primastar My vans red Stop light came on and started flashing about 3 weeks ago, the van sat up for 3 days then it started and went for the past 3 weeks but it has stopped again it would start and run for about 1 minute then cut out, after about 2 minutes it would start again then cuts off again i had it ot the computer and the only thing it showed up was low pressure now it wont start unless i fill the fuel filter first it will start but it wont accelerate can anyone help me please

    Recent post about coolant loss, turned out to be a small hole in the thermostat housing, which is now fixed.  Whilst van was in for that, the garage mentioned there is now a fuel leak.  Looks like its coming from the base of the pump on the top right side of the head - assume this is the injector pump? Seems to be leaking from the joint at the bottom of the casing.

    The garage dealing with can not find any issues but the turbo manufacturer is saying that this is a fuel starvation problem. Any ideas would be welcome!    
• Ford Focus TDCI - wet injector tips 10 Mar 2011 (Forum)
  Hi everyone, I have a focus mk1 tdci 115hp which went into limp mode with the glow plug light flashing, the code reader stated no4 cylinder above knock sensor threshhold. On removal of no4 injector the tip was found wet with fuel and later tested and found to be faulty. After fitting a new injector the engine started, knocked badly and belched fuel i.e the same fault as before.After removeing all the injectors numbers 1 and 2 were wet with fuel and 3 and 4 were dry.

  After any advice, my Peugeot 806 HDI 2001 model has developed a fuel gauge fault, whereby the needle will sometimes flit from the correct reading to absolutely full. Then empty. Then jiggering around half full. A main dealer has checked everything from the instruments back ie: sender etc.

  After two days and a couple of local journeys the smell hadn't gone. I took it back and they have diagnosed a cracked fuel injector pipe and want to charge me over a grand to fix it! The problem wasn't there before they serviced it (not shown in the MOT which was done first) so I'm thinking they may have caused the damage during the service.

  What are your experiences of using Tesco 99 octane fuel ? Does Tesco 99 produce noticably more power/torque when compared with 95 octane fuel ? Does Tesco 99 produce greater fuel economy on a like for like driving basis compared with 95 octane ?

  The alternator is obviously charging ok as the van turns over fine but is this likely to be an alternator fault or a fault within the loom of the van? Secondly, the fuel guage seems to have a mind of its own. It slowly travels around its range of readings without a care in the world. Does this sound like a guage or sender fault. As always, all replies gratefully received.

  Hey, I have a vauxhall astra 1.7TD LS - 1998 reg. The fuel level was just above the red as in just before the light comes on. I then went to the local fuel station and topped up with ?20 of what I thought of was but it cut out about 10 mins down the road after.
• Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - 97 1.2 Petrol smell under rear arch 15 Oct 2009 (Forum)
  It only seems to happen after a journey of any length and the smell appears to come from the rear arch by the filler cap, no leaking or losing petrol is evident, visible fuel pipes seem ok and dry. The smell is not evident within 30 mins of journey ending, fuel pump or fuel filter attached to tank is dry. Anyone experience any filler neck problem with this car. Thanks

  I have a 2000 ford fiesta 1.8 td with the endura di engine. It seems to of developed a serious oil leak. This looks to be around the fuel pump pulley so I am 99% it is the oil seal around the pump itself. I know it is a bolt off plate type seal. Just wondering if these can be had away from the main dealers? I cant seem to find them anywhere online.

  Could this be due to the proportion of bio diesel they now put in all French diesel? I usedwhat seened to be the premium fuels hoping to take advantage of the fact that this engine ( according to my main dealer ) has an anti knock sensor and should be able to benefit from an increase in cetane number. All symptoms have gone after a tankful of Shell V-Power.
• Broken fuel flap - repaired with a bodge 27 Apr 2009 (Forum)
  Filling up the Rio last night and caught the edge of the fuel flap cover whilst hanging up the diesel pump, off it pings across the forecourt, other drivers looking on and obviously impressed with my car's build quality, me slightly embarassed picks it up and calmly slings it in the boot.
