Peugeot 308 - Pump noise @ rear when filled up fuel tank - Alfiecat
Hi, on 3 occasions in last six months about 2 months apart each, just after I have filled up my diesel fuel tank I have heard a pump running type noise which appears to be coming from the rear of the car. It only lasts for the first couple of minutes after driving away from the station and there are no warning lights etc - any ideas? Performance is fine. Any advice as to what the part might be (yes I am female;)!!!) is it expensive? Shall I ignore it until it becomes a more frequent issue? Turn the radio up? Thanks in advance:)

Sounds like the lift pump in the tank but they normally only run for a few seconds. Do you hear it run briefly very time you turn the ignition on before you start the engine? you should do. If it only happens when you fill the tank that's odd but if it is running a lot of the time I would suggest the pump is failing.

It might be the Eolys fluid pump.

The ECU calculates the amount of diesel added. Then runs the pump for the apropriate time to pump the required amount of Eolys fluid into the fuel tank. This assists with DPF regens.
