530d/E300td/A6 2.5TDI 3 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Would appreciate some advice/comments/experience please. I am looking to purchase a Merc E300TD, an Audi A6 2.5 TDI or the BMW 530d. I have already been told that the E300TD is boring and thirsty. The 530d is a great drive but blows turbo's (BMW mechanic information) and build quality not up to the Merc. Can anyone give me some advice to assist my choice. -

BMW Z4 Coupe - Help needed please, mis-sold BMW approved used car 6 May 2012 (Forum)
Recently decided to buy my dream car so got the finances together and started looking for a BMW Z4 Coupe. Decided on the BMWAUC route to ensure peace of mind when spending so much money. Found the perfect car, but was in a BMW dealership 300 miles away (this was 4 weeks ago) Registered March 09 22k miles Knowing how fast good examples can sell I called up straight away and was assisted by the sales rep who was really helpful and pointed out all the small defects on the painwork etc. -

BMW 3 Series 318i SE Touring - Used car dealer refuses to fix fault on BMW 18 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Hi everyone, Just found this forum and it looks like you lot know your stuff so perhaps you acn help me. I've just bought a BMW and it came with a 3 month warranty, or 3000 miles which ever is first. (it also says £500 in brackets on the paper work so I assume that's the limit) I noticed the rear window de-mister wasn't working within the first week (I've had the car just over 2 weeks now). -
Car scratched in car park 18 May 2009 (Forum)
It wasn't there before. You're going to HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS" This continues in the same vein, very loudly, the BMW woman shouting, the other's response inaudible. Eventually BMW woman degenerates into abuse, the other woman apparently having admitted nothing "Is it because I've got a brand new car. Is it because I've got a brand new BMW? -
BMW 3 Series G21 - Car Sold With Safety Critical Tyres 22 May 2023 (Forum)
Is this even legal? I have the car booked in for a free safety check at Kwik-Fit, but I suspect BMW would not accept their opinion... Thanks in advance. -
BMW 1 Series - Faulty car - engine light issue 4 Mar 2023 (Forum)
I bought a 2011 BMW 1 series ran around 100000 miles from a dealer in Dec last year. Since it is my first car, I recorded the dealer description as below. "So like I said, sometime you will see this sign on the, on the dashboard. -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - BMW 225xe plug-in hybrid: owner's diary 1 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Performance in this mode is more than adequate for keeping up with traffic flow, although battery range will be reduced in winter weather. -- the BMW-supplied charging cable would be better if it was 3 feet longer. A full charge from 25% remaning takes about 3 hours from a standard 3-pin socket, costing about 80p. -- I can't make any sensible fuel economy calculations yet, as there's still more than half a tank of petrol to use up from when I collected it. -
Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer - Vauxhall Insignia ST vs BMW 318D ES 19 Feb 2012 (Forum)
The 318D list price is £23910 I would also have to pay an extra £750 advanced payment for the BMW and the Insignia has a greater list of standard features which is reflected in the higher list price. THE ONLY FINANCIAL DIFFERENCE TO ME IS THE EXTRA £750 FOR THE BMW. As I said, motoring costs are my primary reason for shortlisting these two models. -
BMW 3 Series Coupe - Getting specialist to check over car before I buy 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
It is no longer under BMW warranty. The dealer is just a man with a yard selling cars. There's no garage attached to the business and he doesn't offer a warranty with the car. For peace of mind I was thinking about getting a local BMW specialist to check the car over to see if they can find anything that's likely to go wrong. -
BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 1999 3.0 530d Autobox Oil Change - hummmmm 15 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hello all, after searching through loads of silly dedicated BMW site's where most the people do not really know what they are talking about I have returned to trust old Honest John. I 'stuck' with a horrid 530d 1999 BMW..... (recently moved to prague and this car was the guy how worked her before me, it was very cheap and due to all sorts of silly legal issue's of permits etc I bought it..... as soon as my permits are done.. over to german for nicer smaller Audi that does'nt look like the Titanic) Anway, the car is on 127K mile's.... besides a really frustrating A/c issue and a slight oil leak from the main crank oil seal she runs like a dream and goes like a train....it is 110% at crusing around Czech and German.... -
remote brake servos - 1981 bmw 635csi 7 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I drive a 1981 BMW 635csi which has an unusual brake circuit. As the car is RHD there was no room for BMW to fit a servo behind the brake pedal on this model so BMW opted to use twin remote servos instead. Each servo has a "line in" from the master cylinder and then one servo powers one (of two) pair of pistons on the front callipers and the other servo powers the other pair of pistons on the front callipers and the single pair of pistons on the rear callipers. -
BMW 325 TDS Remote total closure lockin 25 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I started a disscussion the other week about how I was thinking about buying a BMW 325 diesel. Well one come up close to me, and I only went to look out of interest. £1500 later I was the proud owner of a 1994 325 TDS SE with 170k. Think that was a good price? It is a bit high on the miles, but I'd heard these cars last forever! -
Lunatic on M1 6 Mar 2005 (Forum)
By this time I was close to the car in the middle lane and such a manoeuvre would have put us all in danger, so I accelerated, got in front of the car and then found the BMW driver trying to do the same thing, as I started to overtake the lorry that was now in front of me, in the middle lane. So I accelerated past the lorry. I have to say that I hadn't been travelling slowly at the time the BMW came up behind me (about 80 mph). -
Mercedes-Benz A-Class and similar - Premium hatchbacks…. 28 Aug 2024 (Forum)
I am in the nice position of looking forward to buying a virtually new premium hatchback. Shortlist is Merc A class, BMW 1 series and Audi A3. Are there any I’ve missed? Want an auto, preferably diesel and nice quality interior. Not a fan of small petrol engines so ruling out 1.3 and 1.5 engines in Mercedes and BMW. Audi 1.5 seems a better prospect as a petrol so not ruled out.
