  • Why Bird Droppings Damage Car Paintwork 3 May 2011 (News)
Autoglym warns motorists to act fast and with care to prevent lasting damage. New research from Autoglym, the UK's leading car care experts, suggests that the familiar sight of car bodywork 'etched' by bird droppings are not the result of any corrosive property in the deposit, as is commonly believed. In fact, damage instead results from the paint lacquer contracting upon cooling and moulding to the uneven texture of the hardened deposit.

  • Hidden Heroes: Nissan Almera GTi 21 Jun 2019 (News)
The 1995 Nissan Almera isn’t a car that many people will remember, as for the most part it was a largely forgettable car - its one gimmick being its ‘curry hook’ in the passenger footwell. There’s a certain sense of irony, then, in the fact that many Almeras ended their days on takeaway delivery duty.  But it wasn’t just the curries that were hot, as in 1996 Nissan injected a much needed dose of verve into the Almera line-up with the GTi model.

  • A rugged winter weather solution - Lada Niva 1 Sep 2011 (News)
So it’s simple to establish that the Niva works in the right environment, but it does have drawbacks. The interior looks as it would have when the car was introduced in the 70s, with lots of cheap plastic, thin doors that clatter shut and silly little windscreen wipers that look to have been lifted from a Morris Minor. It’s charming, but you wouldn’t want to live with it day to day.

At the Classic Car Show I met a chap who claimed to own a factory fresh 1954 Austin A40 Somerset and I have to wonder if lot 208 is actually his car. There is not a speck of rust anywhere. The seats and door cards are in delivery condition, just as you would expect them to be if you were picking up the car from an Austin dealer sixty-one years ago.
