  Ok specs: 1.8i XLS 16V, 52 plate (registered January 6th), 5 Door Hatchback, 29K miles, Copperleaf Red, Service History, Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Electric Windows (Front), Power Steering, ABS, Average Condition, 12 month MOT and 6 months Tax. I see my options as: 1) Part-Ex it, I've had £3750 offered by one dealer, and can get £3500 from most.

  The model in question is a Civic 1.6 Inspire S, which as far as I can make out consists of an '03 MY 1.6 S with various bits added from the SE spec (air-con, alloys etc.) The bits that haven't been added appear to be leather steering wheel and rear electric windows, without which I'm sure I'll survive. Mileage appears to be delivery only. Car was registered on 27 November last, and I have discovered that the Inspire S was a special edition offered between June and September of last year, which I presume means that this car has been sitting in a field somewhere for anything up to five months, before being registered by Honda and shoved off into the dealer network.

  The kids liked the electric windows in the back though I could isolate them from the drivers seat, climate control was a boon although, as with all air cons, if not used you end up with steamed up windows. I take pride in my cars, washing and waxing etc, but took a severe dislike to the alloys on the car. They were the variety that had lots of ?spokes?

    As mentioned, it’s the base model, so no screen, and a basic radio/CD player, but that’s fine with me. It’s still got air con and you can set the charging to start at a set time, and the car interior to pre-heat. It’s got keyless entry and start, and cloth seats (I don’t like leather seats!). At the moment I’m getting around 85 miles on a charge (it’s the 24kw battery), which is fine for work and we have 3 other cars in the household.

    My requirements are: automatic, 5-door, 5-seater, reliable, economical, practical (i.e. good seat manoeuvrability) not French or Italian (sorry but reliability is important) with air-con, electric retractable mirrors, plenty of leg room in rear with height sufficient for 6 footer son/husband, auto lighting and wipers, bluetooth for handsfree phone use, USB socket for interactive i-pod listening, preferably sat-nav, ABS and all safety acronyms, I would love the keyless entry and start I have with the mini but this seems in short supply (Note has it).

  Hi all, I bought the above a year and a half ago - and other than having to replace a battery up until the summer this year its been fine. Now I know summer would make more of a demand on my air con, and at same time I got a stereo fitted at Halfords where I know they did make a bit of a meal out of it - and despite them faffing on, and fitting a new aerial wire thingy (technical term?) my radio stopped working where reception was fine before.

Smoke test first, then buy your mandatory insurance, then inspector stencils engine and frame number on your form and he's supposed to check about 30 things on the list.
