Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 2002 2.0 Diesel misfire 21 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Cleared all faults and said lets run it for a wk or so. See what shows. The misfire continued and he was baffled so the car went to a diesel specialists. Not peugeot main dealer though. They said it had a faulty fuel rail pressure sensor which was replaced. Car ran fine for the 40 mile motorway journey home but misfire came back as soon as we got into traffic and speed dropped. -
Volvo - BBC Watchdog Wins - Volvo Recall Diesels for fire 22 Nov 2007 (Forum)
It was not immediately clear how many British fire incidents there had been. Bohlin said the fuel injector plants or bolts, located on top of the motor cylinder, were faulty, potentially causing diesel to leak out into the motor. Injector plants or bolts would be replaced free-of-charge in a procedure that would take about two hours, she said. -
Running in a Diesel - advice please! 17 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone give me the benefit of their advice so I can give the car the TLC it no doubt deserves? Also am I best to give it 'Top Of The Range' diesel for the first few tanks or give it the normal stuff from day one? It will only get normal stuff for the rest of it's life as it is a company car and the company (and I!) would resent the unreasonable premium there is on these so-called premium fuels. -
Mondeo Diesel 19 Mar 2001 (Forum)
My son in law has a Mondeo diesel which simply will not pull away from rest with any speed. From what he tells me it sounds as if the turbo is not coming in from low revs but this is only a guess. His job is driving Texaco fuel tankers on regular nights and he was telling me today about meeting a chap the other night who is one of Fords leading training engineers who travels all over the continent training mechanics on diesel engines etc. -
Vauxhall Vectra C - Halfords Auto centre 17 May 2012 (Forum)
Slightly dangerous in an environment such as a mechanical garage I thought! So I go to Asda and start !complaining about their fuel but I'm told by the manager that there was no other complaints at all and that it wasn't possible to have petrol in the diesel pumps. I now return to the Halfords garage Alan again assures me that it's petrol and that's it, no way it can be diesel. -
Suzuki SX4 2013 1.6 Petrol, 35,000 miles any good? 15 Dec 2018 (Forum)
I'm going to look at one this afternoon with a view to parting company with the diesel corsa and migrating back to petrol. Mainly as the price difference is quite noticeable and as I do the majority of short town runs it won't have the EGR/DPF troubles of the newer diesels. My mileage is dropping to around 16 - 17k per annum so I feel that now would be the time to return to petrol power. -

cant decide between 328i and 330d 21 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I'd been told that BMW petrols have weaker resilduals but I wonder if that will change with the current climate on diesel bashing and also the move to a more economical 4 cyclinder turbo petrol over the older thirstier 6 cylinder petrols. I'm also not sure how things could change over the next couple of years on VED and fuel duty for diesel. -

Clean burn engines 15 Jan 2006 (Forum)
(HCCI = homogeneous charge compression engine). This is a development of features from both petrol and diesel engines with a view to meeting the coming restrictions on release of NOx and particulates (and a 20% increase in fuel economy). It will most likely introduce solenoid open / close mechanisms because it requires such close control of valve timing. -
Veg oil 26 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Having dutifully informed Customs & Excise of my intentions, I've just poured my very first litre of Sainsbury's vegetable oil into the tank of my VW Passat 1.9 Tdi. There were 50 litres of normal diesel in the tank at the time, so the blend is just 2% veg oil. Taking the car for a test drive, the engine seems smoother and more willing. Also the most amazing thing is there is no noticeable diesel smell any more. -
Any - A Shake-Up in the the way we buy Fuel 9 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Having wasted several hours trying to find a better deal for my Gas & Electric I pondered what it would be like if we bought vehicle fuel in a similar way .............. May I suggest we need more 'competition'in the domestic market for petrol and diesel fuel. With more electric vehicles coming on to the roads we also need to make vehicle energy consumption easier to understand for all consumers. -
Peugeot 306 TD Phase 2 1997 - Peugeot 306 TD Phase 2 - Starting problems 7 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Can hear an audiable click. Changed the battery for a Bosch 600+ Crank Amp Changed fuel filter and seal Cleaned the fuel strainer in the tank, did notice a large build up of dirt in on the strainer Fixed what seemed to be a small leak on the join going to the bulb primer Bled fuel lines using the bleed nipple on the pump Before I changed the fuel filter I noticed that when I pressed the primer bulb, a small amount of bubbles would appear from the fuel filter, visable in the clear pipe between the filter and pump. -
