Updated Punto Range, from £6,499 4 May 2002 (News)
FIAT has updated and simplified its Punto range, with a new lead-in Mia model at £6,499 on the road and the standard range starting at £6,999. A bonus is the choice of either one year’s ‘free’ insurance when the car is run on FIAT’s i-deal PCP, or 0% finance with 30% deposit when bought on HP. The new £6,999 range starter model is called the Punto Active and as well as Dualdrive power steering (standard on all UK Puntos), comes with a six speaker radio/cassette player, body coloured bumpers, rev-counter, trip computer and ‘follow-me-home’ headlamps. -

Previously run by the AA, so there shouldn't be any worries about maintenance, the 76,000 miler sold for £5,575. Then bidders woke up and the other, with a few more miles made £5,700. When a cute little 9,000 mile 2000X Daewoo Matiz kicked off at £2,000 I had to have a bid or two. -

He took one short drive of the Vauxhall Vectra then spent ten hilarious minutes apologizing that he couldn't find anything good to say about it. Okay, Vauxhall complained and the Beeb unwisely agreed to run Tiff Needell a few weeks later with a more complimentary report. But, of course, Jeremy was right, and this was where the Top Gear rot started. We need an honest, fair, balanced, politically incorrect TV motoring programme with the wit and style Clarkson singlehandedly introduced to motoring journalism. -

Not all L200s featured Mitsubishi’s sophisticated 4x4 system though, the 4Work and 4Life models have a simpler Easy Select 4WD which works in 2WD for the majority of the time, though can be shifted to 4WD on the move - again at up to 62mph. Throughout the L200’s near 10 year production run it would see some changes to its specification. In 2010, the L200 gained the option of a five-speed automatic, while power was increased to 175PS. There was also a very slight restyle inside and out, with the exterior getting new fog lamp housings and a redesigned grille. -

Brightwells Bicester Heritage Auction Updated Results 5 Apr 2017 (News)
There were some big winners but also a few losers at Brightwells impeccably run classic car auction at Bicester Heritage today. A significant winner was the 1927 Sunbeam 25HP that during WW2 had seen service as a breakdown truck before being restored to its original magnificence as an open tourer. -
Croft Circuit 2012 Fixtures List 11 Jan 2012 (News)
Significantly the locally based and highly enthusiastic Darlington & District Motor, Northallerton Auto and North East Motor Cycle Racing clubs will all play significant roles, running some of their own championships at Croft as well as providing volunteer trackside marshals at many of the events. The visiting, award-winning British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) and Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC), two of the UK’s top organisers of motor sport events, will add a further touch of class in 2012. -

Volkswagen ID Space Vizzion previews electric estate car 20 Nov 2019 (News)
A smart climate system will let the driver and passenger make requests such as 'warm feet' or 'cool quickly' to adjust the climate control. A light strip running between the A-pillars, dubbed the ID. Light, will provide information to the driver. This includes an indication of battery charge level, notifying them of an incoming phone call or recommending when to change lanes. -

Thrilling finish to Flying Scotsman Rally 5 Apr 2017 (News)
The Endurance Rally Association’s ninth Flying Scotsman Rally ended in a nail-biting finish as the winning crew of Paul Crosby and Ali Proctor suffered two break downs in their 1939 MG TB Supercharged on the final run for the chequered flag at Gleneagles, Scotland. The event started at Slaley Hall in Hexham, Northumberland, with more than 750 miles of rally ahead of the 103 crews. Storming into the lead at the end of day two, leap frogging John Abel and Leigh Powley with their 1937 Lagonda LG4, the MG suffered broken rear suspension issues but got back on the road thanks to the ERA’s mechanics. -

Nigel Gough, CCA classic car specialist said, ‘There are believed to be less than 100 examples left of these unusual 2CVs - maybe 30 of which are in running condition.’ The car will be supplied with its original front engine, replacement crankshaft and crankcase halves, as well as the original registration document from Nigeria, several photos of the car during its trip across the Sahara desert, French language 2CV Sahara and period English language 2CV brochure and owner’s manual. -

It's not the best spec or engine gearbox combo - a 1.8 LX auto - but it'll still be a perfectly pleasant car to drive, and with just 75k on the clock of a car that was designed from the outset to gobble up motorway miles, it's barely run-in. It also has a very Nineties blue cloth interior with matching blue dashboard. It's how we rolled back in the early days of Britpop, and there's no better way of listening to Blur's Charmless Man on cassette than on this period perfect Ford audio system - one thing Ford always did brilliantly was car radios...
