  • Any of these yours? 25 Nov 2003 (Forum)
http://www.wreckedexotics.com/newphotos/weird/weird286.shtml Don\'t know if I have done the link correct, and I know that there have been links to wrecked exotics recently, but as this was the subject of various threads previously, thought it might be \"good\" to see what we were discussing! (In case I have done it wrong, its all the new Volvos and Beemers that sank to the bottom of the sea! (link amended. See instructions in Announcements on how to post links. DD)
  • new car for 10-12k any ideas 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Running costs should be reasonable in motoring terms. I was personally thinking of newer shape VW Passat TDI...any suggestions or Volvo S60. Thanks.
  • Speed Limiter 7 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know of a device which could be fitted to my car (1996 Volvo 440) which would prevent me exceeding the speed limit. Ideally I would like something which could be changed to suit the various limits, not just activated for 30mph zones. I understand that some devices which are being sold require the vehicle to have a pulse speed wire and my car doesn't have one.
  • Latest crash tests published 29 Nov 2001 (Forum)
FYI: Latest set of crash tests have been published on following cars: BMW 3 Series, Citroen C5, Mondeo, Hyundi Elantra, 406, Octavia, Volvo S60, Honda Stream, Alfa 147, Peugeot 307, Rover 25. Details of these, and previous tests are on www.euroncap.com. They make interesting (and sobering) reading... (Look at the test results in detail, you'll see the star ratings seem to cover a wide range of performance.)
  • Cold Mornings 25 Sep 2001 (Forum)
s something that everyone can comment on: At this time of year I start to miss the heated seats of the various Volvos we?ve had in the past. It makes me realise that for half the year, a major priority for me is - how well does the heater work? It?s not a subject the motoring press seems to write about much, so have backroomers got any particularly glowing or chilling experiences to report?
  • Twin or single axel caravans 10 Sep 2001 (Forum)
I know that his is a car page but, next year I am hoping to buy a caravan to be towed with my Volvo 940 estate. I am looking at 17? to 18? vans {500, 520, 550s}. Which are the best ? twin or single axel vans. These lengths are available in both forms. Any one any suggestion as to the best 5 berth van circa 1995, {3 small children}.
  • the thirty nine steps 6 Sep 2001 (Forum)
At the last count there where thirty nine answers to Chris (dipstick) Watsons stupid letter.I think we are drifting into fantasy island or maybe I am wrong and Star trek is for real And the enterprise is really a turbo lada with morris minor indicators and a volvo 340 perpetual motor as the power plant.I will put on record that if CW can produce any of these vehicles he talks about I will gladly donate a considerable sum to a charity of HJs joice.
  • My Road Test - Volvo XC70 D5 Summum Auto 19 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Oh, and add a nice aluminium handle for the passenger, while you're at it. Yes, I guess that would be all... A cross country estate, at your service. Inside - it's a pure Volvo. A Volvo V70, to be precise - great ergonomics, great materials. The 'Summum' spec is the highest, which can be seen on the pics. Real wood, real 'Sovereign High' leather, all accompanied by superb quality of fit & finish.
  • Volkswagen Touran - PDI on new car 24 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I can't even identify the paint code although I believe its reflex silver. The chain that I bought the car from do have VW franchises but this was from a Volvo dealership so not part of the Das Welt approved used program.
  • MPV for up to £5,500.00 - what do you recommend? 29 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I have had my 2009 Volvo V50 1.8 (manual/petrol)  for over a year now and am starting to regret it. We got it when my son was one and a half, to get all his bags, toys in etc. Whilst it is an estate, the boot is not particularly big and we often have to put the buggy next to my son, when we gof of a big shop.
  • Never had this conundrum before....what do I buy? 15 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I've never had a problem deciding on my next car but I have now. I currently drive a Volvo S60 on a 61-plate and have to change it within the next few months as it has hit my company's age limit - I'm on the company car opt-out so receive a monthly payment towards buying and running my car.

  • probs after intercooler pipe failure v70 21 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Hi, vehicle is volvo v70 2.5tdi with msa 15.8 I recently had the bottom intercooler pipe come off. This happened in France with a ferry to catch, fully loaded vehicle, children etc. no tools. I chose to drive the 80 miles to the ferry (low speed, low revs - lots of smoke) rather than risk missing the boat.
  • Old large diesel estate 11 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I have to get myself a large estate for next year and I have never driven or owned any of the options so Im hoping someone may have done. What I want is a large and by large I mean Volvo sized, estate which is also fairly economical ( hence the diesel idea ) which will also be durable and reliable as far as you can with old cars. My shortlist is Vauxhall Carlton 2.3D, Audi 100 Avant, Volvo 740 TD, Peugeot 505 2.5D and the Ford Granada 2.5D.
  • Comfortable Ride? 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Father just bought a five year old non turbo model. Incredibly good ride and and handling. Just ignores most surface imperfections, that my Volvo would magnify 100 times. any others -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
  • Bird Poo marks on paint 3 Oct 2005 (Forum)
What is next? Do I use paint renovator on the whole bonnet followed by the polish on wait and see Volvo? Volvo could argue that I should not have used any polishes and this would invalidate a complaint about the paintwork but the poo marks are still very clear. In hindsight I should have just driven it in to them after washing it and asked, but when you look at a polish that says 'suitable for all types of Automobile paintwork, inc acrylics, cellulose, metalics and clearcoat finishes' you think it can just be slapped on.
  • Car Mag Selections of Group Test Cars 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Is it just me or is anyone else frustrated by the propensity for virtually every car magazine to test the 'usual subjects' against each other without putting in an interesting alternative. I have just ordered a new Volvo S60 and I have tried to find it realistically compared with it's competition. It has a diesel engine widely praised and size / price-wise it should be up against 3 series BMW / C Class Merc / Audi A4 / Jag X-Type.
  • Taxi! 14 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Average fuel consumption coverts to a pretty impressive 44 MPG. The cabbie's previous car was a petrol Volvo 740, which his son then purchased, and which has clocked up over 1,300,000 km (800,000 miles). The engine and auto gearbox are originals, and have never been taken apart beyond routine servicing, although the engine barely scraped through the annual Swedish emissions test this year.
