Citroen Xsara HDi - Xsara clicking 16 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Wife has an 02 plate Xsara HDi, and when travelling at slow speed, and in a straight line, there is a clicking sound, similar to a cv joint that you can hear when you turn. Also the car vibrates under braking, and I know that these are prone to warped discs. The rear pads have been changed, as have the front discs, (The front pads were like brand new.) and everything is tightened. The car is brilliant on fuel, but she's getting a bit hacked off with it. -
C5 - Air in brake fluid?? 2 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Dealer has just changed the front pads, they weren't down to metal, but not much life left in them. Now the pedal feels spongy. Never had that problem after doing pads on the Xsara, 405 or Maestro before I owned this car. The (front wheel) handbrake is really firm like it used to be when the car was newer. -
Smaller car---but how small? 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I don't suit small cars and they don't suit me. Bluebirds, Accords, Xantias, Octavias. They're my size. I once had a 6 cylinder Cresta but my knee got so badly damaged by the corner of the windscreen it had to go. So I need a smaller car for the usual 3 and a half miles to the bank or 40 miles to the airport sort of thing. -
Scratched Car 31 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Hi All! I've recently had every window on my car scratched (bar the windscreen) by some kind person while left overnight... Does anyone know of any treatment that can make the scratches less noticeable - they're downward strokes (3 or 4 scratches down each window) Also someone's decided to run a house key along the length of the car - I've seen a scratch removal system at http://www.seethedifference.co.uk/ and wondered if it's any good. -

Ropey Toyota 11 May 2007 (Forum)
I'm writing to Toyota in the vague hope they'll extend the warranty after all the hassle this car has caused, because if they don't I'm selling it before the warranty runs out and it becomes a potential liability One positive note - the dealership have been helpful and friendly - must be used to dealing with lemons (the cars, not me!) -

Best small but powerful automatic with extras?? 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I currently drive a Mazda 3 sports nav 2.2 litre diesel. I love the car, but want something smaller and automatic. I would have switched to Mazda 2, but can’t get the combination of engine and extras I’m after (I’ve got used to them all now!!!) So... any ideas on a Mazda 2 sized car that has an automatic transmission that still packs some punch, but also has rear parking camera, heated seats, sat nav, electric rear windows? -
Volkswagen Golf II (1983 - 1992) - 91 1.6 erratic idle problem 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I've been told that these carbs are problematic. Can anyone shed some light on my problem, i also have virtually no heat in the car, will just about demist the screen, if i turn the blower up-it makes loads of noise-like its spindle is bent and the only air i get in the car is cold. Are these 2 things related? Car ticks over at 900 rpm generally is this good moved from Discussion and shouting edited from subject line -
Mum & Dad's Peugeot 406 24 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It has had no issues whatsoever apart from the odd parking dent, and it's coming up to a timing belt change which is a few hundred quid. The Pug dealer has helpfully suggested that this might be a good time to replace the car and my folks are now considering what to do. It is a 2001 model. The question is, while all cars are different and there are no guarantees, what is the reasonable longevity of these cars - it has mainly been driven round town so I'm thinking clutch wear for starts. -
Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 1.2 Electronic Fault Indicator Light 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I have a problem with my Clio 1.2 2001 car, this has been going on now for about a year and a half, what happens is when you start the car whether its hot or cold the orange electronic fault and pre heating warning light comes on, when this happens you can only drive at about 15 mph, this happens mostly when the car is started but has done this to me at traffic lights once, the engine never cuts out but the revs are higher, if I turn the engine off for 15 minutes it will right itself and the light will go off and maybe will be ok for 2-3 weeks, its been at the Renault garage where they said nothing was wrong, has anyone else had this problem. -
Daewoo matiz strange putty smell 3 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Well i seem to have yet another problem, as well as the wet floor saga (see post) with my litte daewoo matiz. it seems to be using a lot of water in the top up res. There are no visable leaks under the car, it does not over heat. Driving it this evening, i noticed a strange odour coming from the heater vents inside the car, which smells just like warm putty. It also smells the same when i lift up the bonnet. -
A class Mercedes-best buy ? 4 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Question : Can these type of hitches be retro-fitted or is it a factory only option. 2. Some of the "new" non Mercedes dealer sourced cars have a quick heat option. I 'phoned the UK Mercedes Helpline who cannot explain what this is or indeed if it a UK official option. Question: Anyone know how this works and any comments ? Any other comments on the car in general ? -
Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - 2005 1.5 Steering Wheel/Front suspension Vibration 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
i've recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Almera 1.5sx with only 20,000miles on the clock but i've noticed a vibration through the steering wheel and the car generally at speeds of 60 - 75 mph. had the wheel alignment and balancing done but still seems to be a problem. is this a design problem with the car or should i leave it in with a Nissan Dealership as it has 3 months warranty left.the car was previously " pulling" to the left and needed realignment. any suggestions would be most appreciated.
