  • peugeot 306 - my 306 has developed a stutter 31 Jan 2013 (Forum)
whilst driving ive noticed an intermittant loss of power abit like when you'rerunning out of fuel then it drives fine for a bit then does it again and got worse recently then clear up for a bit then came back but this time when it happened was accompanied by a sound that i can only describe as very similar to that of driving along the rumble strip on the motorway but if you push your foot down on the accelerator and speed up it clears for a bit, obviously its a fueling issue of some sort but was wondering how to sort it out as never had peugeots before and new to them
  • Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - 06 2.2 Bent drive shafts? 4 Nov 2012 (Forum)
My X Trail vibrates when accelerating above 40 mph. My local dealership have informed me that "all they can think of" is that the drive shafts are bent. There are no signs of damage and of course the warranty would not cover the work (which amounts to £1500). Any thoughts would be much appreciated as to whether this is an accurate diagnosis or whether the vibration could be caused by anything else.
  • Drink Driving 12 Aug 2011 (Forum)
She is due to start teacher training in Sept, 2012; we live in the middle of nowhere, one bus a day, has enquired about the RoSPA driver education courses and intends to complete the IAM course when unbanned.  She will be accepting the court ordered driving course, if they recommend it.   She has a stressful job in a psychiatric hospital till the TT starts. Any comments gratefully read. Regards, Chloe
  • Ford Maverick - Starter kicks in whilst driving 24 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Windscreen was replaced and the issues stopped but now it has a nother issue (may not be related of course) where the started motor kicks in whilst driving. So far it's done it 3 times and stripped the cogs so needed a new starter fitted each time.
  • Night-time driving-glasses? 17 Sep 2010 (Forum)
The thread about flashing oncoming Xenon-headlit cars prompts me to ask whether anyone can recommend night-driving specs to reduce glare. I'm not au fait with the most recent issue of the Highway Code but seem to remember I'd heard that the Code's advice (exhortation?) is not to use such glasses. However, I don't get a headache (from oncoming headlights) when I wear my old pound-shop ones; and when I accidentally leave them at home, I do.
  • Self-drive classic car hire in Manc / Cheshire? 22 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Daughter's school 'prom' happens in July (a dreadful US import).  However, I thought I'd see about hiring a self-drive classic a day or two, to chauffeur her & a couple of friends to the event and have some fun myself.   The car would ideally be something from the 60s / early 70s, with 4 seats and a V8  (Bristol, Jensen, Rolls / Bentley, 60s American etc)   I've found a couple of firms on the web, just wondering if anyone has any direct experience or recommendations for companies in the Manchester / Cheshire area?
  • Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec 1999 - Driving feels course / rough? 14 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hi I'm wondering if anyone could shed any light.  Basically, I've the car to be driving quite rough over past few days; with the engine sounding course, dull and non-responsive. It seems as the engine is lacking oil, but I've checked this and appears OK. Just wondering what it could be - fuel injectors, fuel filter?
  • Vauxhall Monaro (2004 - 2007) - Smile: you're on candid camera .... 11 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Interesting video here ... a Monaro owner took his car to his VX dealer to fix a coolant leak. The mechanics took it for a test drive to see if the leak was fixed. What the garage didn't realise was the owner has a Roadhawk video & GPS recording device fitted, which when examined later, showed the 'test drive' included some highly illegal driving, with speeds of over 125mph.

  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 98 1.8 Engine kangarooing whilst driving along 28 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have a lovely red ford mondeo, which i dearly love, but as of recent and on a recent holiday the engine kangaroos whilst going along. It mainly happens when driving at low revs. If i put my foot down it wont do it, but it does it at all speeds from stationary up to 70mph. Could anyone suggest what the problem could be? my thoughts were maybe dirty fuel, or the dm flywheel?
  • FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - 96 1.0 Handbrake light coming on when driving. 20 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Fiat Punto - the dashboard handbrake warning light is coming on when driving at certain quite low speeds but goes off when you stop. The light work fine when you put the handbrake on to park. Seems something is loose or reacting to the forward movement of the car to make a contact somewhere and thus the light comes on.
  • What's the point of driving a quick car slowly? 23 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Any overtaking opportunities were thwarted by oncoming traffic. I'd be the first to defend anyone's choice of vehicle and their decision to drive er, carefully, but honestly, what's the point in bringing such a car out if it's to be driven so??
  • £5k...what to buy? 29 Feb 2008 (Forum)
My housemate now wants a car. He's been working the last two years nearly to save up for one and passed his driving test in December, but he has limited experience of driving. Nonetheless he wants to buy a car for £5k with his parents saying they'll pay for his insurance provided it is group 5 or lower. He wants: something with "street cred", is easy and nice to drive, can carry 4 ppl in comfort on long journeys.

  • A historic driving day 29 Jun 2006 (Forum)
As the motorways were busy I went the back route through Baden Baden and across the Black Forest.... ......and what a drive. Billiard smooth, winding forest roads, pretty empty, picturesque villages, no speed cameras out of the villages, little traffic. The sun was out, the top on the Barchetta was down, the music was on (loud) and life was very very good.

  • Are Driving Standards Falling? 25 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Must be the third or fourth instance of ignoring red lights I've seen in the last fortnight. Turning right on no right turn junctions is a daily occurance. Mobile phone use whilst driving hasn't decreased since it became illegal. Eating and drinking at the wheel is commonplace. Overtaking on double white lines: daily. Blocking yellow box junctions. What is the World coming to?
  • 1995 vw Golf Autobox probs 7 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Since then the problem is still there, and I have given up on driving the car because it is too dangerous to drive. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be or whether this is a common fault on the golf? thanks Josh
  • Schumacher, F1 27 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Ok you Formula1 detractors. Schumachers middle section drive from 12 to third. Driving of utter brilliance with stunning machinery. Button - poked with a pointy stick by Schumacher and yelping out of the way, sold down the river by being blocked into back markers by the master.
