  • Toyota yaris 2013 - Toyota Yaris Lights Dimming 11 Jan 2021 (Forum)
When I first start my Yaris with the lights on and engage either first or reverse gear, if I then lift  the clutch pedal, for a split second the headlights dim or flicker. This can happen a couple of times when I reverse the car out of my garage, put the car in neurtal and then engage reverse gear again to leave my drive. The rest of the day/night it seems to be all ok.  I have had the battery and alternator checked with car in neutral and under full load (heater, fan, A/C, heated rear window) including all lights on.
  • Renault Scenic - Frozen Gear Stick - Renault 13 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Overall it works fine except for the Gearstick. If the weather gets cold, particularly if it is minus 3 or below, and if I keep the car outside overnight or for more than 24 hours, the Gearstick freezes. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes or a maximum of 30 minutes to unfreeze the gearstick, by turning on the car and putting the aircon/heating at full blast.
  • Where did your switch gear come from? 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Gear level - Vectra MK1 Electric window switches - Vectra but probably also found in other Opal cars Rear head rests - Were also included in the Corsa C. I always find it fasinating how a lot of cars are just made out of other cars. British leyland were of course experts at this.
  • Audi Cabriolet V6 2.6e - Performance? 11 May 2005 (Forum)
Another minor problem is that the car seems to have a stuck thermostat. The engine only heats up to normal temp when in traffic or slow town driving - the rest of the time the temp guage is just off cold. Are the stats in these engines easy to replace and could this be the cause of the performance issues?
  • Car Accessory "must haves" 21 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Torch with magnetic back and long cable. 5. A floodlight with the "brightness of a headlamp" 6. Electric heated car scraper (yes, I know!) 7. Fan (bought in France (great for recirculating hot air!) 8. Dearer handsfree that had wrong connector for my phone (anyone got a Nokia 3410 cable for a Mr Handsfree unit?)
  • Peugeot 206 - Alternator Problem 18 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Last October my father in law purchased a Diesel Peugeot 206 from a Peugeot Dealership. The Car is a Y Reg and has done average sort of mileage. He noticed as soon as he took delivery of the car that a vibration can be heard from the alternator when the car is started from cold and only disappears after the car has heated up, or a load is put on the alternator (even when cold), e.g. he switches the lights on.

  • Peugeot 407 - Seat comfort in family car 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have had a frustrating month of car shopping, now that my three year old Peugeot 407sw has to return to the lease company. I cannot find a new car that combines reasonable rear legroom with comfortable enough seats for the adults in the front.
  • The easiest car you've ever had to work on? 26 Nov 2008 (Forum)
IIRC the camshaft could be withdrawn through the front of the block after removing the radiator grill, and the lever arm front shocks were about ten minutes a side.
  • Motoring masterclass 19 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Note the sequence of events observed on the A41 westbound between Tring and Aylesbury at about 9.00 this morning: * High-grade dual carriageway nearly empty * Driver of blue Peugeot approaches car in front, outside lane clear * Peugeot gets so near to car in front that brakes have to be used * Peugeot moves into outside lane * Peugeot signals right when already straddling lane boundary * Peugeot returns to inside lane so close to other car that brake lights appear on other car.
  • Fiat Punto - temperamental sidelight 29 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi - I have a problem with one of the front sidelights of my car. When i first switch on and turn on the lights a warning light appears, indicating a problem and on investigation, sure enough one of the front sidelights isn't working. However as I drive off, the light disappears and then when i park the car and check the lights, they are all working normally.
  • Keep your distance! 11 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Just read an article in the telegraph about accidents being staged in order to claim thousands of pounds off the 'guilty' party's insurance company. Most of them seem to involve a car braking in front of you sharply and they have often disabled the brake lights so a following car is more likely to end up in the back of them. They then claim for loss of earnings, whiplash as well as damage to the car.
