Tyre kickers really do exist! 28 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I'd heard about tyre kickers but always assumed it was a joke and that they didn't really exist. Now I've seen one with my own eyes. He came out of our local supermarket, kicked one front tyre of his car and then kicked the other front tyre before he drove off. Honest! -
Neat Touches of the Future 19 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Following on from Neat Touches of the past and present, what touches do you dream of for the future... To start off, I would like to see some sort of front mounted brake lamp (not sure on colour) so that you (as the driver in front) can see that the car behind has 1. noticed you 2. has applied the brakes as appropriate. -
Mercedes Benz CLK W208 (1997 - 2002) - Advice on dealin with bad service from dealer 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The car had been supplied by the dealer to it?s previous owner four years previously and he had now brought it back and traded it in for an E Class They already knew about the suspension and it would be checked and rectified The car would be subject to a 144 point check, and would have a new MOT The car would be given a 6 month warranty I returned 1 week later to have another look, the car had now been prepared for re-sale, looked stunning, and had just had new front springs fitted for which I was shown the receipt. -

DPF-Short trips-alternative solutions 14 Aug 2008 (Forum)
(as a safeguard) Heaters. Why can`t the off car electric energy solution take the brunt of energy demands for these? Why can`t a solution as in an electric storage heater store heat from the mains and then use a simple on-board fan to distribute heat during use.? -
Corsa 1.2 16V 2010 - Corsa 2010 Sub Frame Corrosion 20 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Although they appear to have repaired it, I am wondering if this could be a sign of big problems in the future with this car due to rust. It also had these faults in addition to the sub frame problem :- August 14th 2018 :- Fail :- Repair immediately (major defects): Nearside Front Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i)) Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii)) Offside Front Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement (5.3.4 (a) (i)) February 6th 2018 :- Fail :- Reason(s) for failure Nearside Front coil spring broken (2.4.C.1a) Nearside Front Sub-frame corroded and seriously weakened at lower arm fixing (2.4.G.1) Nearside Track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.B.1f) Has anybody had experience of these kinds of problems with Corsas of this age group ? -

Hyundai i20 - Hyundai flaking paint 29 Jan 2023 (Forum)
I have owned a white i20 for about 5 years having bought it second hand from an accredited Hyundai dealer and have recently discovered a problem with the paintwork around the windscreen. It is scaling and flaking off; primarily along the top edge but also down the pillars. I am aware that this is not an isolated case and that a very similar problem has occurred with many other cars, mainly the i20, of a similar colour not only in this country but internationally. -
Two PCNs for the same offence 10 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Hi there. Can anyone help me with this, please? On 20 Sept I had to park outside my works car park on the road. I parked with two wheels on the pavement and when I returned to my car after work, there was a penalty charge notice from Enfield Council on my windscreen, timed at 11:56am. I sent a cheque the next day. -

Volvo S40 (2004 - ) - No Road Tax 3 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Whilst ambling along there were two Police officers stroling in the same direction as I was heading back to my car, they took a great deal of interest in a Volvo S40 and the the Lassie proceeded to write a ticket. I stopped to chat to her colleque only to discover the cars road tax ran out in March 07 so not just a little out of date. -
Proton Persona 1.5 GLSi 29 Sep 2003 (Forum)
A colleague is selling a superbly maintained 97/P model with low mileage, and I'm currently tempted as the Favorit is gradually becoming a pain in the posterior.. The asking price will be somewhere in the region of £1200, but it does need a new windscreen (about £95 apparently) as the old one has two pellet holes in the drivers field of view, as a result of being parked in a less than pleasant part of Nottingham. I'm aware of the Mitsubishi Lancer heritage of the car, and of the slightly rough edges in terms of the occasional rattle and squeak, but everything else seems quite favourable. -
Xantia Suspension Bouncy 26 Dec 2006 (Forum)
My Xantia 1.9td Est has recently become bouncy, when even a minor undulation in the road surface can set the car bouncing, I think mainly at the front. Sometimes when I stop at junctions, the front is still bouncing, the car doen't bounce when a pot hole is encountered, more when there have been repair to the road and the two surfaces are not even. -

What is the difference in practical terms i.e owning/driving pleasure/stability etc in a front wheel and a rear wheel drive? Why are most cars front wheel drive whereas cars like BMW/MERCS (which keep getting top marks from all motoring journalists esp likes of 5 series BMW)rear wheel drive. And how do the likes of Audi quattro compare to the these rear wheel drives.Your thoughts on the subject will be very much appreciated. -
Car accident where other driver is trying to rip m 11 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I recently had a minor car accident where I hit the rear bumper of a car in front of me. We were both stopped at a red light and I didn't realise that after I had stopped the car, it started moving again (like when you let go of the brake in an automatic car).
