Tools for Zafira front brakes 17 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I currently own a Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 Ltr DTI, Elegance. Registered 09/2000 and has covered 91,000 miles. Like changing the oil on this car I needed specific tools to undo the sump plug etc (Torx),however, I need to change the front discs and pads on my Zafira. I have a haynes manual to refer too, but can anyone advise on specific tools I may need to buy inorder to remove the brake callipers and pads, I am thinking of sockets etc. -
VW Passat cv boot and front drop links 26 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Had a 80K full service done and a number of issues were identifed. The CV boot needs replacing and both front drop links. OK? The car is 6 years old, 80K, (runs great mind!)but when VW told me the parts and labour, I nearly fell off my oerch! £130+ for the CV boot and drop links £175+ (supplied and fitted in both instances) I'm not knowledgable under the bonnet, but there must be an alternative. -
Ford Mondeo II - Mondeo ST24 - poor handling, please help 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
The mechanic at the garage said that the front shocks were on their way out and sometimes it does feel like a bit of a bouncy castle at the front end. also, the front near side strut makes a terrible metallic clunk that sounds throughout the whole car if I drive over any lowered ironwork, drains etc at any speed above 30mph. -
Attacked in my car! 10 Oct 2008 (Forum)
As they walked by one of them stopped, gave me a long look and wandered towards me followed by about half a dozen of his mates. Squeezing by the car on the nearside they got a little excited when they felt trapped and the car started bouncing on it's suspension as the door mirror folded back on itself. I don't mind admitting it was a frightening experience, I thought one of them was going to rear up and bring a couple of hooves through the windscreen and I must have been as white as a ghost. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.6 front side windows do not clear 10 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I have just purchased a 2nd hand 06 Focus Sport and am very happy with the car. However, there is one thing that is bugging me. When I "wind" down the front electric windows on both sides of the car the rubbers are not touching the window so they do not clear of mist or rain on the outside. -
Speeding ticket photo question [Read only] 22 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi I've been caught for speeding by a parked up police laser van iin a 40 zone doing 48 and I asked to see the evidence. The photo is of the front of my car but at the time II didn't have a front number plate (was damaged in a shunt) so the registration is not visible in the photo. I presume they got my reg from the rear plate using the ANPR camera in the front of the van - or a plod was quick with his notebook - but my question obviously - is this ticket legal given that at the point the speed was measured by cars indentity could not be known and should I plead not guilty , or could they use the ANPR evidence to back it up even though it won't have a speed readout? -
clio 182 xenons 4 Apr 2005 (Forum)
i have taken it back to renault, they say they have fixed it. but i dont think that they have. my megane , when its dark, the xenons come on, and kinda move up and down to adjust themselves to be the right height. but in the clio, they come on, and just point at the floor. pretty dangerous on the motorway, as i couldnt see much in front, whilst driving at 70mph. whilst my megane sport tourer, when u go uphill, they move, you can actually hear them going, (like a mechanical whiring as they move up and down) you pull up behind a car and pull up sharpish, and the lights move up as the front end dips down, then when the car front moves up, the headlights move down. i assumed this is how the clio would be. but they dont. any idea's? -
Sailing Dingies 18 Apr 2004 (Forum)
The Cortina stopped ?on a dime?, with a great noise. It must have shaken the people in front as much as it did me. I theorise that the subtended angle of the vehicle in front gives an indication of the distance therefrom. With the dingy being lower than the car I got quite the wrong impression. -
Fifty to One 14 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Along a seven mile stretch of unobstructed rural road this morning, traffic speed about fifty mph, I only had to touch the brakes once. The brake lights of the car in front came on forty or fifty times over the same stretch. The difference? The guy in front was basically tailgating, driving on average about two cars lengths fron the one in front of him. So every time the traffic speed dropped by a couple of miles per hour he had to use the brakes to adjust his speed, whereas I was leaving about a forty yard gap so that all I had to do was ease off the throttle. -

1998 pug 404 2.1 td estate - pug 406 2.1 speedo not working here's how i fixed it 4 Feb 2011 (Forum)
after having no joy i resorted to ebay and picked on up for 20 quid, fitted it and the speedo worked until i switched the car of then it did not work again ,i sent it back for a refund (seller told me it was tested so i asked him what it does and he had no idea so how could he possibly have tested it if he dont know what it operates LIAR LIAR LIAR) next step was to get my old one out of the bin and open the baby up,a tricky operation but doable, next was to wrap the plastic part in tin foil two layers. next was to take a heat gun to it the kind used for paint stripping held it about 4 inches away and heat the side that DOES NOT have all the resistors and wotnot on it making sure not to keep it blowing in one place. only do this for around 2 min's then i let it cool and slid the bad boy back together and refit it . -

Why tractors have bigger rear wheels? 1 Jan 2009 (Forum)
In childhood days, I was told that it is because bigger rear wheels are good over difficult terrains and small front wheels are for easier steering. But now all cars (tractors as well?) have power steering - so why still its front wheels are smaller? -

Hyundai Santa Fe - Max Tyre Pressure 15 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I have just had a tyre repaired and when asked how much air to put in it when finished I answered 42psi as per the sticker inside drivers door for tyre pressures. 42psi is for the rear tyres when there is a load on the car, which there will be with kids, roofbox, holiday kit and bikes on for holiday. The tyre fitter pointed out the max tyre pressure for the tyre was 44psi and so it shouldn't be be filled to 42psi as there is a chance of blow out on a long journey as the tyre heats up and pressure inside will increase.
