  Hello all I’m currently looking at a 2017 Mazda 3 (petrol) what are they like on fuel ,I do 70 miles a day all A roads will it reach any where near 50mpg. I own a focus diesel at the moment which after its second mot is falling to bits leaking gearbox oil injector seals leaking the list goes on all this and it only don 45k.

  Spark plugs still dry, though plenty of fuel going into injector manifold. Any help or advice would be greatly apreciated.
• Peugeot 405 Diesel - fuel filter housing leak 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
  1995 Pug 405 SRDT my 405 has been very hard to start of late and i have found there to be a diesel leak coming from the bottom of the fuel filter housing.   It is a small white round piece at the bottom of the black plastic filter housing, on another site info I have read leads me to believe that is coming from a thermostat at the bottom of the housing.

    I only use BP Ultimate or similar, but have been unable to find if there is any biofuel involved after the blanket legislation by HMG. Having been used to treating boat fuel (due to the time it spends in the tank), I was wondering if there is any scope to treat car fuel (if biofuel is an issue) with the same biocide, killing any sludge forming bacteria. As an aside, there is a large notice on my fuel flap saying no Biofuel!

  hi, just bought a mk4 astra duel fuel, i changed it over to gas whilst driving, then hit a flat spot at 75 (didnt realise the van had a limiter) so changed back to petrol, now the change back to gas does not work, the clicking from changing to gas is not hapening, some one could cheer me up if they tell me its something simple.

  Apologies if this one has been done before but does anyone have any experience of the fuel system additives you can buy. I am mainly looking for one to clean the system. To be honest I have no problems with the car and it has just been serviced and passed its MOT. I just thought a good clean of the system might be the correct thing to do after 10 years of motoring using a variety of petrol types - e.g.

  It's outside my house and a friend of mine very kindly came and read the fault codes for me, but none came up. He then checked the parameter whilst we tried to start the vehicle. We noticed that the fuel  line pressure was at 1.8bar. Is this the abnormailty we're looking for and if so, where do we start looking first please?

  Always previously reliable, started getting problems starting, cranking and only going on the second cycle. My garage have changed: glow plugs, pre & main engine bay fuel pumps, all engine bay fuel lines & filter, fuel sensor, injector seals, starter motor, key fob batteries. Battery is good. Drove it home fine, now will not start again. At a loss - any ideas?

  hi i had a replacement engine put in my vehicle and its now doing around 15 mpg i took the vehicle back to the local garage and they put my old injectors in it. they had engine  had already used  my old  fuel pump put on it so they said it would be fine now as it would all be the same set up but  now when the car is ticking  over the car seems to shake  the rev counter is showing correct idle limit and its still doing about 15 mpg and seems sluggish still.help

  Why is it that the advertised fuel consumption figures are never achievable I find this so annoying. I have been driving for the best part of forty years now and have never managed to equal or better these figures. As I understand it these figures are derived at in the test lab and if that is fact, then why are manufacturers allowed to state that this is achievable on the road when quite clearly it is not, surely a case for trading standards and dare I say it compensation for the mis sold motorist.

  HELLO I RECENTLY CHANGED MY FUEL FILTER AND SINCE COULD NOT START THE CAR, AFTER ATOL OF TRYS I BOUGHT A SECONDHAND PUMP HAD  THE CODES REMOVED AND SWAPPED THE ECU OF THE PUMP ONTO THE CAR, AS I WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE FAULT, I ONLY HAD MY BLUE CHIP KEY AVALIBLE AND TRIED TURNING ON THE IGNITION FOR 60 SECONDS THEN OFF THEN TRIED TO START IT BUT NOTHING.

  Hello. I have had a 1.6 petrol Ford Focus since September (brand new). I find the fuel consumption fairly heavy on this car: It's just reached 5000 miles and it's still only returning just under 30 mpg at best. It's got Leather heated seats and Air con etc: But even if it's driven gently with all of the electric gooodies switched off, it's still quite thirsty!

  Hello All, Does anyone know of a website that provides actual real world fuel economy figures?  - probably submitted by users (this website is very useful for the cars that have been test driven - but they don't include all models as it would probably take up too much time :-) ).

  Hi, my golf 4 TDI has a problem ...... started it the other day and it ran rough, gunned the throttle and it picked up so drove it for about 10 miles. had some intermitent misfire then suddenly died and could not restart. towed it back in gear to see if it would fire nothing ..... had to leave it!! tried today and it fired once but no joy looked at fuel comming out of fuel filter and it seems to be drawing fuel but still no ignition any ideas!!

  Hi I just bought this car about three weeks ago and noticed that the parcelshelf speakers were not working so i pluged them in and all my dash lights went out . So pulled the plug and lights came back on except speedo revs temp and fuel display . changed the lights and still no joy.Checked the fuses fine and also headlight height adjuster is not working. can anyone help.Andy

  hello everyone. my peugeot 406 2.0 HDi seems to smell of fuel whenever i drive it,i can normally smell it either inside the car or outside the car once i get out of it. has anyone had the same problems as me because i want to get it sorted but need good advice before i take it to a garage as i dont want to get ripped off.

  Hi My Focus cut out and wouldn't start again. Garage report is Fuel pump, replacable with recon part for £600+ labour. I asked if poss to fix with 2nd hand part to save £ and was told that this is not an option due to part coding/decoding or something? Can anyone advise on a cheaper alternative, p.s.
