  • Volvo V70/XC70 (2000 - 2007) - Cambelt change - D5 163Bhp (2002 yr) 13 Oct 2007 (Forum)
But as I've done about 7k over the mileage the cambelt should have been changed at I have been recommended not to drive the car unless required, which is a bit of a problem as I was planning on going away this weekend, and putting another 500 miles on it. The car is 5 years old, and I'd be happy to go away except for this cambelt and Volvo telling me not to drive it. I asked if they could inspect the belt for wear etc, but they said doing that would be just as much work as replacing it. So how much leeway is there in the recommended change interval for the cambelt?
  • Squire Furneaux Volvo, High Wycombe 17 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I guess it is human nature to moan when things go wrong in the eye of the consumer which is why we read more negative posts than positive ones. Well, to redress the balance a little, 10/10 to Squire Furneaux Volvo, High Wycombe. I popped in yesterday to buy a new oil filter and to order a new 12 volt socket for the cargo bay to replace the one I broke the lid off on holiday. My request to 'please post' the latter to me was happily granted.
  • Hidden Volvo HU-803 menu options 21 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Courtesy of the above web site however, I found the following document that explains exactly how to use them: http://www3.sympatico.ca/p_bruno/volvo/Audio_System_HU803_Hidden_Menus.pdf Want to compare diversity antennae strengths? No problem! (Though I don't want to!) Want to adjust the surround sound defaults? No problem! Want to adjust the tonal range sent to each speaker individually?
  • Excellent cars owned 9 Nov 2019 (Forum)
With all this brand bashing thought I'd do the opposite. I've had several Volvos over many years and they have been excellent. The estates..240 through to present V70 are real workhorses, They eat motorway miles and are pleasant to drive with few vices. As a long term bet they take some beating..literally.
  • VW Swappage - a distant dream or a likely reality? 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Loads of manufacturers are now starting swappage schemes  - Skoda, Vauxhall, Volvo. Is there any likelihood, do we reckon, of Volkswagen starting it too?  I don't want to make a purchase now only to find in a few weeks that I could've got it cheaper!

  • Cheap Jaguar & Land Rover 12 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The companies - not the cars Ford has given Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and HSBC a mandate to sell Jaguar and Land Rover, its two British luxury brands. The planned sale does not include Volvo, Ford?s third premium marque, and is said to be in its early stages.

  • LPG ? 11 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Still looking for a newer car , and came across a Volvo S60 bi-fuel (LPG) . Its a 2002 model and to be honest it is very nice . But my big worry is (please excuse me) because its a 2.4 5 cylinder no turbo , will it still cost as much to run , as say a diesel Vectra ?
  • Children and seat belts 12 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I have just fitted a pair of extra rear-facing seats in the Volvo, with seat belts. I thought they would be sick, but the children love them and want to ride in them all the time. Someone told me this is not allowed unless all the normal seats are full. Does anyone know if that is true?
  • Is this V70 a good buy? 31 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I am tempted by March 2002 V70 SE D5 Auto, with lots of added goodies (e.g sat nav) taking new list price to circa £32k. Ex Volvo with 17k miles on sale at main dealer - I think I can get deal circa £24k
  • Beautiful Cars 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I'll start off with a classic, the Lagonda which was featured on the front of the Telegraph Motoring supplement on Saturday. What a beautiful car! Oh, and of course Volvo V70s are beautiful also. Cheers VD5D.

  • Tyre widths 3 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Put the spare on receently after a puncture - it's hardly worn. However its 165 and all the other are 185 Certainly the rims {Volvo alloys} look the same. Will the narrower tyre cause any probs? Certainly I've not noticed any. Thanks Alex
  • Budget automatic 20 Aug 2001 (Forum)
I'm looking to buy an automatic family sized car as a 2nd vehicle. I have seen the following around the £2000 mark with about 70k and FSH : Mondeo Volvo 440/460 Xantia Cavalier Any advice on these or further suggestions from the forum? Incidentally, what are the pitfalls of an auto box on an aged banger? Thanks
  • Looking for SUV suggestions 4 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Jury seems out on whether they are more or less reliable? So far I've been interested by the Volvo XC60 / Toyota RAV4 / Honda CR-V. The Volvo is extremely popular here in Sweden but online reports suggest Toyota is more reliable. Last 2 cars were absolute money pits so reliability is really a priority for me!
