  • Small economical hatchback 26 Mar 2014 (Forum)
It's not great on fuel but my commute is 10 miles daily so I'm not too bothered. She wants something of similar size to the Polo. She does over 10k miles daily but we are worried about the reliability of diesels. I know it's worth it when you compare the daily fuel consumption vs petrol for her, but I've had terrible experiences with diesels in the past which has put her off.

  • Impressive claims for economy - BMW 1 20 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The 118i petrol in particular benefits from substantial improvements, a 0-62mph time of 8.8sec bettering its predecessor by 0.6sec. Fuel consumption is massively improved too, however, now more than 10mpg better than before at 47.9mpg. The 118d diesel is 1.0sec faster than before at 9.0sec, while lower fuel consumption of 60.1mpg makes it BMW's most fuel-efficient model ever."

  • A4 cutting out 6 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I have a problem with an a4 1.9 tdi cutting out when driven hard when the problem occurs the car will be hard started it will turn over for ages before going. the fuel filter was replaced with a new one. The history of the car is that it was originally petrol and the running gear of a tdi se was put into it. the fuel tank an d lines are the original petrol ones but appeared to be the same. the vacume module behind the drivers wheel of the petrol model was removed go it is plumbed the same as the original diesel. i am wondering if there would be a difference in the size of the fuel lines even though they appear the same. if injector cleaner or some other one of these products is added to the diesel it will run fine for the remainder of the tank.
