  • Mazda 3 2.0 2014 Skyactiv - Mazda 3 2014 - Harsh Vibration pulling away 20 Jan 2022 (Forum)
The juddering goes once car driven for a few minutes and clutch take-up becomes smooth. (Might have a DMF.) I'm wondering if anyone has any experiance of this? I've never had clutch issues with any car i've owned, my understanding is these have a DMF which are known to have issues but is this something I should just accept and learn to live with or take it to the dealer (I still have extended warrenty)  Any experiances or advice welcome.
  • Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 2003 TDi - gearchange problem 23 Feb 2008 (Forum)
in november i asked about a gearbox problem and vibration on my passat. the fantastic members who replied , exept the sarcastic gloaters ! were very helpfull and correct may i add, i replaced the dmf and clutch kit and the car is just totally different. i. fitted an LUK kit which included flywheel and clutch. the kit cost including vat was £320 nowhere near the cost some of the scare mongers were talking about. .i was told the dmf had probably failed prematurely because the car has been performance tuned, and was advised to fit an LUK kit because the shock absorbing bits are better quality than the original vw parts , then someone said LUK make the original bits , when i did the job , they look and ed totaly different side by side and i wondered wether they would fit........they did and i,m so chuffed with the car.

  • Advice on confronting dealer 5 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Is it unreasonable of me to think that for the clutch & DMF to be on the verge of failing after five months and 4,000 miles, there must have been a problem with the car when I bought it? Should I be expecting the dealer I bought the car off (a nearby indie Volvo specialist) to contribute to the repair?
  • Mondeo Clutch cost! 16 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Was wondering what sort of price I should be paying? Best price so far has been £420 inc. vat, parts and labour, but no DMF. Does this need to be done on the 1.8 petrol or will it be ok? Car has done 134000 miles and it is still on the original clutch!

  • 2010 VW Caddy 2.0 SDI - Clutch/dual mass flywheel 26 Aug 2018 (Forum)
So i had been wondering about sourcing the parts myself beforehand, then i will already have them when the time comes. But i'm not too sure exactly what i'd need to be looking for as the clutch and DMF seem to be inextricably linked. So, would i need to buy a clutch and a DMF or do they come together?, also, is there a particular brand of part i should be seeking out over any other? Thanks in advance.
  • 2008Golf MkV TDI Blue Motion 2008 - Hot start problems 21 Feb 2015 (Forum)
He has spoken to the Technical people at Sachs whoi say that the starter motor engages directly with the flywheel which is one solid piece bolted onto another solid piece with 6 nuts.  Any excess movement in the DMF cannot possibly be the cause of vibration when starting from hot only. If t was the DMF this would be evident all the time and particularly when changin gear/ What to other think!
  • Ford - Mondeo IV (2007 -) diesel or petrol 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Diesel wise either the current 140bhp TDCI or maybe wait for the PSA twin turbo. I know I can't escape the DMF as both petrol and diesel have it. But do the Euro IV diesels have EOLYS or something similar to replace in my potential 5 years of ownership? Any views or opinions on the old petrol v diesel debate?
  • Mitsubishi asx - Clutch issues 20 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Quick message regarding a post from a couple of years ago with a slipping clutch at 35k the issue was traced to a faulty DMF and I paid for a new clutch to be fitted at the same time.  I'm now starting to wonder whether the clutch plate was actually replaced, 25k later the issue has arisen again.  Would a clutch plate typically have a manufacture date on it?

  • Ford Mondeo - Crankshaft Pulley - TDCI 20 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Last April took the plunge and had a Solid kit fitted after the normal DMF failure. The solid flywheel conversion is doing fine (touchwood). • BMW 530 D 2002 - New Clutch ? 9 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Its been recommended that I consider changing the clutch soon and was quoted £130 plus exhaust parts that may get damaged on removal. Surely this does not cover a DMF which I presume will need changing too. Grateful for your experiences.
  • For all-Thanks - Something I would like to say 6 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Many many of the comments are helping me to shape my future choices, and those comments a few years ago abou DPf''S and other "pollution devices and DMF's etx have been really useful.
  • Volkswagen Tiguan - Clutch - to replace, or not... 6 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I've not got the details yet, but they're saying it needs a new clutch. Don't know what's making them suggest this, as there's no clutch slip or strange 'DMF living on borrowed time' noises and there are no shudders, aside from a very slight judder when pulling away first thing in the morning in winter. They've quoted something exorbitant to fit a new clutch and DMF, but also say that when they've said the same to other Tiguan owners, the owner has refused their kind offer and often managed another 10k-20k before needing a new clutch!!
  • Skoda Octavia - Dual Mass Flywheel 30 Apr 2017 (Forum)
My skoda (has 142k miles) and now requires a new cam belt, full service brakes & discs, totally around £1000. If I changed the dmf this will shoot the price up by around another £600.  My question is - how do I know if the dmf is on it's way out, and should I be changing it now.  The car does not sound like a bag of spanners, The only indication I may have is that when accelerating to around 40-50 mph the car shakes - nothing serious at all and the slight shakes goes when getting to around 60 - 70 mph.
