  • Parking - can I be charged for the same offence twice? 7 Nov 2012 (Ask HJ)
Last week, I had to park outside my works car park on the road, and had to leave two wheels on the pavement. When I returned to my car, there was a parking...
  • Viessmann Vitodens 200-W with ACV Smart E 160 vers - Boiler 3 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Also he suggested ACV over more common unvented cylinders, he said ACV get heated up all around therefore they get heated up in 15min so a small unit would be sufficient for a big house.     We have a 5 bed 4 bathroom and 20 radiators and 15l/m flow and all gas pipes are 22m.
  • Citroen C3 broken front spring 27 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Last year our August '02 Citroen C3 was recalled to have some cups fitted to the front suspension struts to stop the spring end stabbing the front tyre if said spring snapped. Citroen's word on the recall notice is "exceptional event". For a week or two there has been a light intermittent irregular rattle from the front of the car which I discovered on Saturday was the end of the snapped spring, still in its plastic protective coating, tapping on the newly-fitted cup.

  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6tdci front wheel arch rust 'fix' 18 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Hi All, I noticed some rust at the back of the front wheel arches on the focus estate I have just bought. From the car-by-car breakdown it appears a this is a common fault: "Rust appears on the back of the front wheel arches. The underseal in this area is inadequate and Ford has introduced a fix which involves a small strip of plastic that runs the length of the under sill and front wheel arch."

  • Fiesta Titanium - New car or is it? 3 May 2018 (Forum)
Am not sure what to do and would appreciate any opinions. I like the car but don't like the the idea of possibly being provided with what effectively might be a second hand car.
  • Sony - car radio fitted...not ood 12 Sep 2014 (Forum)

  • Watch out - Workmen about 31 May 2007 (Forum)
Just had a note from my youngest boy - less than 1 yr old car parked at work on Friday - car park next door being relaid (unknown to him as he gets in at 7 am). Due to high winds the "grit and pink fluffy dice " form the relay has covered his and 20 other cars.
  • Sat-Nav Owners.....Beware! 7 Nov 2005 (Forum)
The following post recently appeared on another site: “Tom Tom Go….Stolen Hi. I was stupid enough to leave my ttg cradle on the windscreen and the ttg in the glove box overnight in my car which was parked off-road outside my house in a very quiet village. It got nicked. The household ins wouldn’t pay out and neither would the car ins.
  • Steering 27 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Watching Top Gear the other night, an oft repeated bit of "wisdom" was trotted out which reinforces a significant misunderstanding of how cars work. I can see why people believe it; on a superficial level, it makes sense; however, it's quite bogus. The "wisdom" is; On a front wheel drive car, the front wheels do more work because they are both steering and driving This is, despite being so deeply ingrained as received wisdom, utter nonsense.
  • VW Polo TDi 1.4 year 2000 W reg - VW Polo TDi glow plug light wont work and neither 9 Feb 2015 (Forum)
My VW Polo 1.4TDi (year 2000) will not start. When i turn the ignition key the glowplug/heater light in the dash does not come on and the car does not start. When the light does come on the car starts. I have changed the relay. It also appears to happen more in the heat. This morning the car started in the drizzle but hasnt worked for 4 days in the hot.
  • Peugeot 406 Excecutive - Airbag Light 12 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Is there some way of stopping this airbag fault, the indicator stalks in my car are brand new so that is not the cause of the problem, and i have heard about a wire under the seat but my car has electrically moving and heated seats so there is quite a collection of wires. Exactly what is it that should be done.
  • Citroen C4 (2004 - ) - Diesel Starting 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My Girlfriends 08 C4 is a 1.6 diesel, having driven petrol engines for most of my life I was always familiar with the fact that having a diesel meant that when you started you waited for the Glow plug light to go out and then it started. However the C4 (which is a very nice car to drive) has no lights and starts on the key 1st time just like a petrol engine. Is this the norm these days (am I that out of touch with advancements in car engineering)? And how does it work? What happens to the pre-heating in these cars Many Thanks
  • Mercedes C180 2008 - Intermittent rear indicator failure 15 Oct 2023 (Forum)
I have a Mercedes C180 - 2008. The rear indicators and rear windscreen air-con randomly stop working. Sometimes whilst driving or as soon I start the engine. I turn the engine off, remove the key, leave it for a few seconds, restart the engine and everything works again.
  • 17 Jun 2018 (Forum)
@ Uninvited guest In addition to the signs, I would strongly recommend a bit of reciprocal inconvenience. I find an unemotionally worded notice* anonymously stuck to the windscreen plumb in the driver's view with liberal applications of Prittstick (or your preferred glue stick) applied directly on the screen, is not only quite effective as a deterrent, but amazingly cathartic!
  • Don't put antifreeze in washer bottle 15 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Yes that old chestnut. They interviewed a guy from the RAC and he said '...make sure you fill your, er, windscreen washer bottle with, er, antifreeze...'. Of course what he meant was screenwash! Not a good idea to spray antifreeze over your shiny paintwork...
