• Mk1 Punto front exhaust mounting 18 Sep 2006 (Forum)
  I've just noticed that this mounting appears to have come adrift. It appears to be fixed at one end to the front subframe via a rubber mount but the end attached to the exhaust just past the right angle bend appears to have been welded to the exhaust pipe and this joint has failed so the mounting bar is just flapping around under the car.

  Hi   I’ve recently had my car tracking done but the jam nut was seized on the tie-rod, the mechanic used a blow lamp to heat the nut, then when he started to turn it he gave it a squirt of WD40   It did the trick, but would this have damaged or hardened the tie-rod with the WD40 cooling the metal too quickly?

  The reports on the radio were talking about a "lorry fire". It seems to me that this is a fairly regular occurance, and it always seems to be lorries: never cars or vans. Why is that: is it just that there's more power available and therefore more heat when a brake sticks or a bearing fails? Or is it something to do with trucker's lifestyles like custom electrical modifications?

  while getting mot, my girlfriend was told a slight leak at water pump. She then noticed blower was taking ages to heat up . I assumed loss of water causing this and this means I'm filling up radiator reservoir each week. I can't see any major puddle under car. Does this sound like the pump causing this? I'm no mechanic but just looking for advice before I take it to garage.

  hi all i have eml faults of p0130 p0135 p0135p i`ve had a new lanbda sensor and a new maf meter but still faults wont clear  also my car runs poor when cold(ok after about 5 mins) and my interior heating is not as hot as before i changed my radiator  now on my dash i get a reading of  ecn 000000 help

  help i am loseing alot of water coolant have changed cap have replaced header tank only lose water when car running have had head gasket checked passed temp gauge never shows engine over heating but after an hour of driving when lift bonnet  you can hear water boiling and cannot take cap off for about 24 hours because of pressure

  Hi Please can anybody give me tips on how to replace the drivers door mirror glass on this car with electrically adjusted and heated mirrors? There a big ball joint in the centre that clicks in a treat but how on earth do you connect the two small ball joints connecting the motor drives to the glass backing plate?

  Basically the internal heater/blower will not switch off and as a result it killed my battery. I had to jumpstart my car would start but the blower kicked in and would not stop, so I removed the blower fuse and now Ihave no heating. Can anyone help me please. Nad

  Engine (1.8 petrol) rattly/tappety? On cold start which improves as heats up. Also noisy, similar noise over 2500 revs. Fuel economy and performance seem ok, recently had oil change with right oil but has not improved. Car has done 97,000 with little service history after 60,000.

  Please help, My daugters car is an R reg polo 1.4. ( sorry im not sure of the mileage at present, but around 120000) She was happily driving when all the lights on the dash went out. Radio, indicators all ok . It then started to steam and over heat-- no fan working.

  hi, my daughter complained that her car was over-heating when i had a look at it i discovered the header tank was tainted with oil and the inside of the cap had the familiar white gunge normally found on the inside of the oil filler cap when water has enter the oil. on this occasion there isn't any sign of water on the inside of the oil filler cap on on the dipstick. would you say this is a head gasket blown and, if so, is it a fairly straightforward job?

  CAr is W124 E300D - 1995 - last of the W124s. I need to remove the inlet manifold to get access to a diesel pipe that is leaking - then rerplace the pipe + seals that join at the heat exchanger unit.

  I own a Mazda 6 which I\'m very impressed with. However I was driving the car when the CD player stopped working, heated rear window went off and then the left indicator came on all by itself. This happened several times in a journey lasting no more than 20 minutes. I asked my son to switch off his mobile phone and the problem cleared.

  My 2001 Alhambra Td SE gives off huge clouds of paraffin-smelling smoke from under its nearside. I am told that this is a special heating device and "they all do it". But surely not after several minutes of running, and not so much it fills the car if a door is opened? I don't see other Alhambras billowing smoke like mine does! Any ideas on what I say to the SEAT agent?

  This person is considerably friendlier and explains that they have made a mistake, It isn't £360, it's £307. They had innitially quoted for a crash (The man going into the back of me), and the windscreen, but have now realised that they shouldn't have charged me for the windscreen. She proceeded to explain that I am being charged the £307 for not including the "crash" (Which I had informed them about), in my renuals since (Despite the fact that I had informed them at the time and that they told me it would be removed after 6 months!).
