The car will be fine for hundreds of miles then when driving over speed cushion where one front wheel rides over the cushion there is sometimes a loud solid clang from the front suspension on the side that rides over the cushion. This can happen literally at walking pace, it has also happened when traversing a slope on to a level road where one front wheel is unloaded.
The dealer has checked it over and says all is well, suggests it could be the coil springs turning in their cups. Apparently some STs have rubber spring cups (perhaps designed to stop this?), though mine does not have these fitted.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Obviously the dealer has had the benefit of examining it and he could well be correct. We have also seen spring breakage (last few inches of the spring) on these Focus.
Other things to check are top mounts, ARB links. Might also be worth going round with a torque wrench and checking everything is tight (if you have the facilities).

Thanks WT, the dealer had a comprehensive check (I was there), also looking at ARB drop links etc. However I do have a torque wrench so could check tightness in the obvious places.
I wonder if anyone else has experienced such clanging from the springs turning.
