Buying a car from Far Far Away 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
As the seller told me it was about 1/2 an hour from Llanelli to Swansea, I phoned him just under an hour before my train was due to arrive in Swansea informing him that the train was running on time. A few minutes after my arrival at Swansea he drew up in the vehicle. I hopped in, knowing that I was in a car with someone I had found out a fair bit about over the last couple of days. -
Living, driving and surviving in Kuwait 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
There is no Mrs. Jordan, nor any female fulfilling that role. I know he had been in the Air Force, then run a fish-and-chip shop in South Africa, before ending up in Thailand and now the Gulf. He is planning to retire aged 55 from the money he will have made in the next 5 years. Looking at the J.G. Ballardian sculptures about, and given the lot of the average person in this part of the world, I cannot but suspect that he is over-egging the pudding of his Jonah-like existence somewhat. -
2024 Toyota Yaris or 2025 Suzuki Swift CVT - 2024 Toyota Yaris or 2025 Suzuki Swift CVT 8 Sep 2025 (Forum)
The fuel consumption is excellent at roughly 64 mpg, but the rear doors do not open widely enough for relatives with mobility issues whom I sometimes transport and they find the back rather cramped. The online sales adviser warned me that the Yaris’s 12 volt battery needs occasional running or it can go flat, and he suggested leaving the car in ready mode for about thirty minutes weekly if it is not driven much. I tend to do very high mileages at particular times of year but have not been using the Yaris much recently, so I have followed his advice. -
Suzuki Ignis AGS 16 Mar 2023 (Forum)
The longest journey so far has been about 40 miles, so yet to find out how it will cope going down to youngest offspring in Glasgow, or indeed how it fares at the national speed limit. Taking SWMBO out for her first run in it, i went along this winding B road, here the gearbox wasn't so good, at least not left to its own devices. We'd approach a slow speed corner and the gearbox wouldn't do anything till we'd got round it, whereupon a ponderous downchange would take place before we got back up to speed. -

1 st November 2013 2 injectors replaced by Diesel engine specialist. The last 1,300+ miles have been run using BP or BP Ultimate Diesel rather than supermarket fuels in my own attempt to flush out any potential problems. Car still exhibits same symptoms. -
Downsizing one car - which and to what? 27 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Questionable whether even our combined usage is suited to a diesel engine though car would get at least fortnightly longer run. I would not be happy to sacrifice the Civic and take the financial hit – I put a lot of effort into finding a replacement car (including seeking advice on this excellent forum) whereas my dearly beloved just picked the black one after a short test drive with the salesman breathing down his neck. -

Had I been trading still I’d put tyres on it and stick it on at £1695 but it’s going to a friend for the fee of a bottle of Morgan’s and I’ve every faith it’ll run for years. 2008 58 plate Mitsubishi Colt 1.3 5dr in blue metallic with 34,000 miles and one elderly owner from new who has sadly recently passed away. Wee car is very clean, tidy and in need of nothing. £1300 paid and passed on to a previous customer who’s bought loads of cars off me over the years, this time again the fee will be another addition to the Rum collection. 2011 61 Mazda 3 1.6 Tamura in white with 66,000 miles and a near full history. -
Skoda Yeti - EA189 Emissions Update - my experience 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I'm hopeful the Yeti continues to prove reliable in the long-term, but am somewhat reassured as the re-mapped 4x4 Octavia is still within my immediate family and has proved astonishingly reliable, despite running considerably more (+38%) power than it left the factory with (for the last 15 years). I'll update this thread with my on-going fuel economy and will feedback any issues, as they arise. -

I demanded my money back, they gave me it back and said when we get a new exhaust gasket will call you and I got no phone call again, so I had to keep emailing and calling and on the 31st I went to collect but they said my bike now has an electrical problem, the bike now was running even worse than the first time I went to collect. The exhaust connection point was damaged and they tried to weld it but it's not worked, (a real fix would be to replace the cylinder barrel, I was wrongly charged £30 for the weld by the way) My bike started working kinda ok so I paid (£160) and went home but it was making a strange noise, I just thought if I go for a long ride it will clear up. -

sort=3&page=1 The other concern, is that straight inder the botchit plate, at 90 degrees (running parallel to the floor) is a hole, which is next to a structural beam) I reckon I could weld that too... it'd be a lot easier up in the air, but I shall do it lying under the car in the wet ...proper wet neck style :) (a wet neck, is like a red neck, but we don't get any sun in Manchester to burn our necks :) ) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/liammcl_2006/wheel%20arch%20-%20passenger%20rear%20-%20feb%2019%202017/Day%202%20-%20temp%20patch%20and%20clean%20to%20metal/110_4423.jpg ps, there's other things soon? -
Citroen DS5 - My Road Test Report 13 Mar 2015 (Forum)
First impressions were good, bold aggressive styling with some neat design features. The chrome “blade” which runs from the A pillar to the leading edge of the front wing looked particularly good on this car which was finished in black. The DS5 looks good from the rear too with a squat stance set off by the roof spoiler and what look like twin chrome exhaust pipes. -

It was doing 28 mpg at first and seemed a bit reluctant in high gears uphill, having been used only for pootling very gently round town for some time past, but after some running using more than 2,000rpm, a couple of new tyres inflated to more moderate pressures and some long-distance cruising it was doing more like 33mpg and felt and ran far better. I now learn that the driveline is Vauxhall, Cavalier I suppose being mid-nineties.Poor service from motoring organisation 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)

Worried she would run out of either battery or phone credits she ended the call and phoned me at home. I then telephoned the motoring organisation on her behalf and the call was recorded at 7.05. Until recently it's just as likely for me to be driving a loaner as it was for me to be driving the car I actually purchased -- I will probably replace my X with a newer model once the warranty runs out in 2006, since I don't want to get stuck with the fix-it bill, and hopefully by then the issues will be taken care of. Thank you so much, once again, I can't tell you how much I love my car.. but I know it could be a lot better. The final raceday 5 Sep 2001 (Forum)
The final race commenced, a pack of three Mk2s descended upon Jag Two and forced it into the sidebanking after 1/2 a lap. breaking the Jag back axle, end of Jag. Another Mk2 was observed running the length of the back straight as if joined to the boot of the untouched Volvo in front. The corner was reached, Volvo man applied brakes and attempted to turn, Mk2 man maintained full power, the Volvo carried straight on, and very nearly crested the 20' earth banking on the outside of the corner, end of Volvo.Dropped kerb in front of one residential property - Neighbour taken dropped kerb directly front my h 4 Jun 2020 (Forum)

This is not like the usual shared access I am familiar with that runs between some older houses (with the garages at the back). -> They stray off of the original crossover and edge of the new tarmac triangle when they enter and exit their property, this has caused the grass to disappear and left large muddy areas.New (Motability) car 15 May 2023 (Forum)

If I was buying a car with my own money, the reliability of the C-HR would outweigh things like the boot being a bit small in relation to the size of car (as long as it was big enough) and the rear compartment being a bit claustrophobic due to the small windows and sloping roofline.VAG - EURO5 DPF info 6 May 2017 (Forum)
At 50% soot loading, the ECU will continue to maintain maximum exhaust temperatures of 600°C to 650°C to cause a regeneration process. The system will try to run a regeneration process for 15 minutes. If unsuccessful, the system will repeat this process for a further 15 minutes, if still unsuccessful, the DPF light on the driver display panel will then be lit.
