  It appears that when fitting just 2 new tyres these should be put on the rear, regardless of whether the car is front or rear wheel drive. My car has front wheel drive, and I would have thought that new tyres on the front would give better steering, better braking and aquaplane resistance in the wet, and a lower risk of a puncture (which from experience I prefer in the rear).

  heating fan cut out on my gf's scenic so replaced the resistor then found that the fan itself had died (and taken the replacement resistor with it :~( ) Bought a second had fan that worked (12v battery test) and got a second hand resistor from ebay looks identical but.....

  Is it usual for these brass/copper tpieces to hot up? I don,t want to put insulation tape on until I know whats causing the wire to heat up. I ran another live feed from the ignition and the same wire heated upo again (the feed to the fuse box).   hi guys i am confused with my car, there seems to be a slight tinny rattle sound comeing from under the car (i suspect the excaust?) i think it might be this silver thing under the car looks like a heat shield thing, has anyone got any ideas or experienced a similar problem?

  When there I also explained I'd noticed the alternator had been making a loud whining noise when under load, which got quieter the fewer things you had switched on (lights, heater, heated windscreen etc). I left saying something along the lines of "I'll leave it in your capable hands as I don't know enough about it myself". An hour later I got a call from the garage to advise that when on the rolling road for emissions testing at the MOT testing station, which is a couple of miles drive from the garage, my car suddenly cut out making some terrible noises and burning smells.

  Usually on the 2nd and recently more commonly 3rd try it starts. I've noticed that if I leave the ignition at the same position for the pre-heat thing for five extra seconds after the pre-heat light goes off, it appears to help. Any ideas what it might be and if I can fix myself and avoid an expensive garage visit?

  Now everything works BUT when I turn on the heater knob to heat and the AC cut out switch opens the backing lights go out and the ignition (battery logo) comes on on the dash. I think it may be an earth problem but if it is, where?.
