  • Why is diesel currently so expensive? 3 Mar 2012 (Ask HJ)
In these parts, diesel is now 9p or 10p a litre more than petrol. How on earth can this differential be justified? Surely at these prices it is only worth...
  • Replacing 2002 Mondeo - Still Looking 24 Jun 2013 (Forum)
The salesman was unable to show me any service history though as it was allegedly locked in the admin office over the weekend. As the car was a 2012 with 17K on the clock it was due a service on mileage regardless of first reg date. This was a Ford dealer. Wasn't impressed with the small crack in front windscreen or scuffed alloys either.
  • Help please! Before I'm priced off the road... 3 Jan 2008 (Forum)
When I sat behind the wheel with the seat in its lowest position, the top of my head was touching the ceiling of the car). I have tried the older style Discovery, but the roof-line drops down onto the windscreen so as to make the vehicle dangerous for me to drive due to severely restricted front vision. Unfortunately It's difficult to locate specific technical information about 'older' vehicles. manufacturers don't seem too keen to assist either.

  • Honda CR-V - Differential seized 8 Jul 2016 (Forum)
On taking my 2006 Honda CR-V to the main dealer following a recall they informed me that the rear differential is seized and to un-seize it will require the differential to be heated up in order to free it. They also advise it will cost in the region of £400 to do this. Is this a common fault in CR-V's? What does heating it up entail? And is £400 reasonable for this?

  • Clio 1.4RT heater problems 21 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Hello, My Girlfriend has problems with her Clio's heating, it didn't all go at once though, setting 1 went first then 2 then it packed in altogether. I've read somewhere about resistors in the heating circuit, are these easy to get to and is it something I could fix myself.

  • Cars with the most headroom 23 Sep 2021 (Forum)
In my wonderful Yaris, with the seat as low as it will go, my head brushes the ceiling and my eyes are level with the (folded up) sun visor.   I'm looking to trade up now but I don't know what to look at - which cars have the most headroom?  Convertibles are out of the question as my head will undoubtedly poke above the windscreen, which can't be safe. Any advice, please?
  • Car covers 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Now that we're getting near winter windscreen scrapery again, I'm interested in getting a car cover to ease the morning pain. Looks like 25-30 quid buys you a basic one, 60-75 buys a breathable zipped lined one and more than that I can only surmise buys you a butler to take it on and off again.

  • Jaguar XF - Mystery burn 17 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I have found a burn on the passanger seat approximately 10mm long 2mm wide. I'm a non smoker and no one smokes in the car. I had my windscreen replaced a couple of weeks ago. Do repairers use hot tools or tools that get hot due t to friction? they may have been placed on the seat. Thanks
  • Vauxhall Vectra C Hatch - Water leak around top of A Post 24 Dec 2012 (Forum)
When raining I am getting water leaking into the car that is dripping in around the top of the A post on the passenger side. It seems to be higher than the top of the windscreen so I'm wondering if there is a drain on the roof somewhere that amy be blocked.
  • Toyota Corolla (1997 to 2002) - 97 1.3 Lubricating motors 8 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hello, Perhaps a daft question, but is it possible to lubricate the various motors in a car(not just my model) ie windscreen washer pumps, electric window/sunroof motors? They eventually sieze, so surely a bit of oil would go a long way to preventing that. They are not cheap to replace.
