• Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 02 Diesel brakes(?) coming on intermittent 21 Mar 2009 (Forum)
  I have a Citroen Xsara Picasso Diesel and I have a strange problem. When driving on the motorway at a constant speed (or any road over about 50mph) intermittently it feels like the brakes come on - the brake *lights* certainly do and the car slows.

  This topic has been posted before but no real cure found. I have a 2003 Citroen C3 1.4 HDI. It has had all of the usual problems with snapped springs etc but it is the cold starting which is the most annoying to say the least. You need to spin the starter for some time with clouds of white smoke coming from the exhaust.

  However, I am less than fond of the key, whose rubber remote locking buttons are gradually disintigrating. I can still lock the car thankfully, but it's beginning to hurt my finger tips!!!! A Citroen dealer (the bigger, the more useless) has told me that the whole thing needs replacing and reprogramming blah blah blah, and that this is going to cost me over £80! Does anyone know of a cheaper way of getting round this?

  I have had a Citroen Synergie (Petrol) for last 10 years which has to date been very reliable. It has just started stalling on idle, also when slowing down and starting. I have had my local garage look at this and the AA have had a look at it and both say the jets and injectors need cleaning which has apparently been done.

  Mazda are obviously the leaders in this idealist concept and I hope they do really well. It's a shame that Citroen have produced a car that is heavier that the Rover SD1 3500 V8.

  Hi guys, I have a clunky / grindy / rumbly (not quite sure how to describe it) noise coming from (i'm almost certain) the alternator on my 99T Citroen Saxo 1.1x {obviously not seen the 3 separate requests to include the year/engine info in the subject header} I think it might be the bearings. Does this mean I need a whole new alternator or can you replace the bearings?

  When I start up and drive off, I find that the power steering sometimes doesn't work and/or is intermittent for the first couple of miles. After that it is fine. Can also hear a hissing noise when I turn the wheel. I had a diesel citroen zx before that I did 149K without this noise or issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

  I've been looking round at various options and the two stand-out choices seem to be either a C-max or a Citroen C4. The C4 in particular because it looks a bit interesting, has a lovely interior (to my tastes anyway !) and would appear to be a relatively cheap and easy car to own. It is also fairly unobtrusive - mind you, I though that about the VrS as well....

  Hi guys i have a 1999 1.6i citroen xsara vtr coupe. Heres the problem. It seems that my central locking has a mind of its own and continously unlocks itself after only a few hours. This occurs 9/10 times. When i go to lock it i occasionally have to relock 4-5 times for it to stay that way-its as if one of the doors is slightly ajar so it cant lock.

  Hi, I've recently become the owner of a 1.1 Petrol Citroen Saxo. The first problem we've had with it is a very common problem, that it's very hard to start. The idol is far too low, and we initially assumed it was a problem with the ECU, but more recently have come to think that it's a problem with the little stepper motor.

  Also at about 70mph in 5th when taking your foot off the gas, the noise is heard for about 3 seconds, then it subsides. Any ideas what might be the problem? My citroen dealer has been "unable to hear it" for over year now and so the problem remains, even though the car is just two years old and still under warranty. Cheers, Trev

  I've finally deserted Citroen in favour of a Focus 1.8 TDCi 115PS Lx and have been impressed by that engine, the performance which is a bit of an eye opener after BXs & Xantia diesels, the gear change, how well screwed together it is and surprisingly enough (having come from 30 years of Citroen Hydraulic magic carpet ride) the ride is pretty good too.
• Mis-matched xenon headlamps - Citroen C5 10 May 2005 (Forum)
  I've just had the entire n/s xenon headlamp unit replaced on my Dec'01 Citroen C5 due to a failed igniter unit in the original, for the painful cost of £430 (which was after 10% off and free fitting)! However, I've now discovered that whilst the original xenon has a blue tint, the new xenon is more white/yellow and infact looks much more like a halogen.
• Citroen AX Warning Lights 1 Mar 2005 (Forum)
  Step son has a Citroen AX 1.4 Diesel. There's two warnings lights I'm not sure off. Hopefully someone can shed some light. 1. When the ignition is turned on, an orange light that I think is the oil pressure light comes on but goes off shortly after starting.

  We recently bought an L-Reg Citroen AX Diesel 3 door to use as a runabout. We have a small problem which I hope someone can answer. My wife is only 5.2 yet she cannot reach the pedals - even with the seat right forward. The problem seems to be the seats.

  Hi once again! More problems with my citroen ax, after recently getting a new clutch and exhaust fitted! My problem is that as I was coming up the road this evening, my accelerator pedal stuck so I couldn't release it to slow down - I had to put my foot on the clutch to disengage.

  Hello Folks, I inherited one of these filters fitted to my 2.5 TD '97 XM. I suspect that my Citroen indie did not change this on the last couple of services, as there are specific instructions on the filter housing, namely: "Clean every 50K miles by soaking in K and N filter cleaner. Do not soak in petrol.
• Citroen ZX 3-dor Front Seat repair? 12 Apr 2003 (Forum)
  Hi all, been offline for months, finally back. Need advice with front seats for Citroen ZX 3-door. The passenger seat won't flip forward to allow access to the rear. The handle no doubt links to a rod going to the base, and has probably come adrift. Any clues on how to repair? The workshop manual doesn't mention much aside from removing the seat, and with a baby on the way in the next few weeks it would be nice to use my car instead of the other half's Clio all the time.

• Citroen ZX Petrol/Diesel Binnacles 20 Oct 2002 (Forum)
  My K plate 1.9 Turbo D Citroen ZX has a duff speedo, but I've got hold of a complete binnacle assembly from another car. It has an extra oil pressure gauge and the rev counter red lines higher so I reckon it's from a Petrol but the speedo is calibrated to 150mph so I reckon at least that part of it is right.
