Brands hatch success for MG Car Club 5 May 2017 (News)
Jonathan Smare won the first of two Iconic 1950s races, and pole sitter Robin Ellis made sure he ended the weekend on a high by winning the second race after falling short in the first. Second Preview Brightwells Classic Car Auction, Leominster, Wednesday 26th November 18 Nov 2014 (News)
. A mate of mine had one of these in London in 1973, but nowadays you won’t find a rarer mainstream VW. This one has the 80PS 1,679cc Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection (like my mate’s car), but the model was the last new air cooled rear engined VW before the K70 and the Mk 1 Golf took Volkswagen into front wheel drive. Brightwell’s RHD 412LE has only 8,137 miles so must be unique. -

Prestigious cars in the classifieds 30 Jun 2011 (News)
That means brisk performance, 0-62mph takes just over five seconds and top speed is 149mph. Propelling a car that weighs over 3,000kg so quickly doesn’t do much for fuel economy, though. The official combined cycle figure is 18mpg, and CO2 is 377g/km. But who cares? This car cost £332,400 new but covering a massive(!) 23 miles has knocked that down to a bargain £285,000. -

Fat Kids Cause Congestion 19 May 2009 (News)
In a country where one in ten school children is obese, walking just one mile a day would burn 100 calories, equating to 19,500 calories across the school year. Cars consume most fuel and pollute more at the start of their journey when the engine is cold, therefore, covering short journeys on foot disproportionately reduces carbon emissions. Over the academic year, a single car journeying a three-mile round trip will produce 234 kg of carbon emissions.
