  Put foot on pedal, nothing would happen, pressed harder, suddenly they 'bit'. Nearly chucked me through the windscreen ! (and ruined my mascara). So...... checked the HML level, that's fine. Played with suspension on driveway, will go right up, and right down, but not in between. Do I lay under it and aim WD40 in the general direction of in front of the spare wheel?

  I have a Golf Mk IV estate, only 2.5 years old. The other day we found a puddle of water in the front footwell, and the rear footwell was also soaking (both driver side). On testing with a hose it seems that water is tracking in from somewhere above the brake pedal mounting. Under the bonnet, the enclosed area below the windscreen seems to retain standing water longer than I would like or expect: there's usually a rubber drain hose for these areas, but the engine compartment is so packed that I can't see or feel a drain hose.

  Any one got any suggestions One of the air flow pipes got court on the radiator fan on my fiesta and it started to over heat and a bit of white smoke was coming from the engine , from then on the fan has stopped working , so I have replaced it with a new one however the fan still isn't coming on when the car gets hot , I have replaced the thermostat but still the fan isn't cutting in when the car is getting hot , the water in the water bottle is bubbling erratically Any suggestion as to what it could be

  I don't do an awful lot to repair my cars myself, but I'm hoping I might be able to sort out a windscreen wiper problem without having to take it to a garage. A couple of months ago, my wipers got increasingly 'lazy', doing fewer and fewer wipes and not making it all the way to the 'home' position.

  My windscreen wipers were juddering across the glass so I replaced the blades with new ones.Still juddered.I then came across a car detailing site that highly recommended Glass Compound Z. I'd tried various ordinary glass cleaners without any joy so I thought I'd give it a go.

  We now have a couple of drips on the drive, looking under the car it is dripping off the sump plug, the lowest point, the front of the engine is now 'wetter' and it seems is slowing acumulating enough oil to run down and form a drip over time, the oil level is not noticably dropping.

  Some 6 weeks ago we had the air-con radiator /heat exchanger replaced after a front impact with motorway debris. The air-con seemed to work OK when we tried it briefly after repair. However, now we are using it regularly, switching it on causes a series of random short vibrations which usually cease after 2 or 3 minutes of running.

  hi does anyone know of any known oil leaks with the passat i have the 1.8t sport on a 51 reg and ive noticed a oil leak down near the turbo unit but have to wait till after christmas for it to go in to have the engine cleaned so we can see where abouts it is leaking from as the heat shield is in the way you cannot see, any help would be great losing a bit of power on top end but not on start off so could it be from the turbo oil feed or the head gasket leak is on the left hand near to the front of the engine no oil anywhere else and its not coming the rocker cover as its not that high up.?

  This car will start and run from cold Turn it off and start again, no probs Turn it off and leave 10 mins, won't start Turn it off and leave for 1 hour usually starts I think the problem is heat related, is there anyone out there that could advise me on what part could be causing this issue Any advice much apreciated  Jon

  The radiator was replaced in July, and in the last couple of months I noticed I'm getting virtually no heating in the car. Sometimes it will be warm for 30 seconds but then goes back to cold. I found the rad was faulty and have just had it replaced but still no heating inside. The guy did say he believes the thermostat needs replacing too, could that cause the issue with the heating?

  My son's Megane has a problem with the heated rear window, which fails to turn on sometimes/most of the time. Unfortunately, the car is in Cardiff along with the workshop manual and I'm in the middle of Austria so I can't look at the problem for him.

  We have many cars in where it's seized beyond repair, due to lack of maintenance. A tip we use in the workshop is to heat the g/bx casing carerfully with a hot air gun, to expand the thread, to assist it's undoing)  be careful however to heat everything gently.
• Omega 3.0 V6 - mystery coolant leak 13 Jul 2010 (Forum)
  He drives home in the evening (same route, same traffic conditions), when invariably the coolant level warning light comes on, but no engine overheating. At this stage you can see the coolant dibbling down in a steady drip underneath the car from a point below the middle of the windscreen\'s front edge (back of the engine block?). In the morning when you check the expansion tank there is hardly any coolant in it. Any ideas ? - Head gasket failure ?

  I have just been offered a K reg Discovery TDi (2.5) 7 seater at 94000 miles for £3,500. The car currently belongs to friends or ours. The lady in question has just gone from full time to part time employment and cannot afford to run it. The condition. Not bad, though a bit of rust is starting to show around the tops of the front door/windscreen pillars.

  I have a 1998 Ford fiesta, and the Windscreen wiper fuse keeps blowing. I replace it and then it is fine for a few days. (I complete a thorough rain test (Watering can) and it is always fine, but then just blows after a few days. Can anyone help?
