• Lexus NX - Car buying dilemma. 2 Feb 2025 (Forum)
  Hi all, any advice on the following options would be greatly appreciated.  I currently have a Volvo XC60 B4 mild hybrid, just short of two years old. I like Volvos (this is my second) but I have concerns about their long term reliability, so I was planning on changing it next year before the warranty expires.

  Am I entitled to a discount/compensation on top of my refund? I’ve currently got just under 2 weeks to source a new volvo or pay out more for the other one they have. Feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place!

  I've been informed by my Mum as she was driving round for work about an E reg Volvo 240 estate with an LPG conversion near to her clinic. She said that it says on the advert in the window "100% reliable runner, ideal for towing" as it has I presume the Volvo factory fitted towpack.
• Volvo V70 D5 2005/6 - cigarette lighter front and arm rest 23 Mar 2021 (Forum)
  I have  a Volvo V70 and for no apparent reason the front and arm rest cigarette lighter sockets have stopped working. There is a Dash Cam plugged in and a spare lead for the sat Nav when required. The Boot one works fine as it is a live feed all the time.

  I heard a slight ticking noise and less than 20 seconds later it cut out completely. It was recovered to my local independent Volvo garage who found that the auxillary drive belt pulley had failed. This had thrown off the auxillary belt which had then fouled the main cambelt with the resultant major engine damage. I was surprised at how little noise it made, I would have expected a few loud bangs at the very least.

  I must admit I have always been someone who doesn't skimp on any safery feature so in my previous cars where they were a smaller size, ergo cheaper, I have always tended to use Michelins. The prices of them for the Volvo are offputting whereas I can get something like the highly regarded Uniroyal Rainsport 2 or Avon ZV5 for around £100 each (fitted) - massive difference in cost. So my question is whether "Premium' tyres really are worth the differential in cost?

  Interestingly, I can make the rough idling go away by spraying the belt with belt dressing, but it comes back after about 5 mins. I have stayed clear of Volvo main dealers as I know from bitter experience that they charge like raging rhinos and can't really afford a 2nd mortgage right now! To make matters worse the car is very reluctant to start on cold mornings.

  The noise happens on all sorts of road surfaces and not, just as you might expect, on speed bumps. The Volvo garage cant find anything wrong and, apart from the noise, it drives fine. The garage say it might be stones in the suspension!! (i live in the country). This is my second S60 and i like the car but the noise is very irritating.

  Afternoon all. My 1990 Volvo 940 2.4 TD (VAG lump) has statred to blow its head gasket. Its pressurizing the coolant and forcing it out of the weekest part of the system - the radiator plastic end cap. I have also noticed a tinge of oil in the expansion tank.

  Bought an '04 plate S60 a couple of months back as a second car - first Volvo after a series of Audis and I love it. Smooth 5 cylinder engine with 5 speed auto and all the toys for less than a price of a 1 year old Golf.... anyway... After the 1st week of driving I noticed that the pipe coming out of the bottom of the power steering resovoir was leaking very slightly and was low on fluid.

  Hello people I post this description of faults in the hope somebody out there has had the same problems. The car is a 1987 Volvo 760 2.3 Turbo automatic, the problems are as follows; When the car is started it idles correctly, select drive and then select park or neutral and the engine revs repeatedly from idle to approx. 1600 RPM over a two second cycle.
