  • MOT rules for rear lights 12 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Hi, i'm new to the site so am not sure if this should have been posted in the technical queries page but here goes... I am considering swapping my rear cluster lights on my civic to some aftermarket lexus style lights. I know there are certain things that MOT testers will fail you on (ie red indicators etc.)but wanted to make sure what all the specific tests are. The clusters i know have fog lights and orange bulb indicators behind a clear lens.

  • help in choosing next car 3 May 2005 (Forum)
Also, some would say they are a re-badged Ford Mondeo, so why pay more for the Mazda. Plus I will struggle to get a second hand car with leather. I am very tempted by a Lexus IS200 SE (accept this would be 2yrs old, compared to 1yr for Honda or Mazda). The Lexus always seem to do very well in surveys, but will the ride be too harsh? (Another disadvantage of the Nissan is that I feel every bump in the road!)

  • Mondeo vs Avensis vs. Maxda 6 vs. ? 8 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Alternative suggestions welcome but do not want it to cost more than the Mondeo if possible and that is taxed at 18% for Benefit in Kind (Euro IV pre 2006). Marques available are: - Chevrolet (right!) - Ford - Jaguar - Land Rover - Lexus - Mazda - Saab - Vauxhall - Volvo Obviously a limit on what I can get as max, e.g. the only Lexus I could get is an IS220d at an additional cost compared to now of £104pm. Cheers Rob
  • Car prices go up - Electronic go down. 15 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Article I read recently said that these days are numbered:- 1) Environmental cases against big cars with big engines (and the big profits) 2) New competition coming within 5-10 years from the east - East Europe, South Asia, South East Asia and China 3) Existing big European suppliers caught - Mercedes, BMW aiming for up market segment with bigger cars, Mass market suppliers(Ford, Peugeot) market attacked from above and below from new emerging suppliers from below as well as existing competitors with new brands (GM has Daewoo / Chevrolet, Renault has Dacia/Logan, Toyota has Daihatsu) If the market in 5-15 years time is filled with Chinese, Indian...........where is the future for Peugeot? If the Upmarket segment of MB& BMW is attacked by Lexus, Infiniti............... will they compete as currently they sell on badge and lack the engineering quality of the Lexus Who will be the winners and big names - may be the future is Cheaper, smaller, simpler, easier to fix cars and not the all singing and dancing electronics in the current car choice.
  • Any and all - HJ website and ads 8 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I know plenty of people use them to avoid adspam and to speed up websites, but I appreciate that running websites costs money, and hosting adverts that are (hopefully) relevant to the viewer is how that money is earned, along with having links, sponsored articles, 'commercial partners', etc.  However, as of today, HJ seems to have gone horribly slow. The 'cardboard' lexus ad seems to be largely responsible for this.  This isn't something on just one computer either. I was online at work at lunchtime, popped onto the HJ site and found the same lagfest that I'm experiencing at home.
  • Skilled driving 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Trapped in a hospital waiting room for several hours on Thursday, I picked up a recent copy of Autocar . In it was an article on the Jaguar XFR, which the author of the article followed in a small Lexus. The Jaguar was driven by its development director (I think), and the author of the article chose to remark on a clear indication of the Jaguar driver's high level of skill: the minimal appearance of brake lights in full flow across country and their momentary appearance well ahead of traffic-light stops.
