Dealer service 16 Mar 2005 (Forum)
My 2001 Mitsubishi Shogun is nearing its 54000 mile service the dealer wants £560 quid yes £560. The problem is that the car is under warranty, has anybody used an independant then had to make a claim? does it cause any problems with the warranty? -
any - Other makes service parts 30 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I am aware that if I do i will literally be stirring ithe dooo-doo very deeply. For my case with one of my cars I am fed up with the dealer service but the car is fine, so still planning to keep it but the other a 2.7v6 jag is actually causing me more concern because it will shortly be out of warranty and the additional year cost is over a £1000 to extend the warranty 1 year. -
Why only 3-yr warranty? 14 Jun 2007 (Forum)
But in USA, it has several engines with 5-dr model options! Evan Asian countries often get better spec cars than us! -
Kia Ceed - Kia Ceed and extended warranty 29 Aug 2014 (Forum)
HI, I am new to the forum. I purchased a used Kia Ceed in 2010 and at the time I was told it was part of the approved used programme where the car would be given a 7 year warranty. Great - so i thought. To cut a long story short, the car was one month out of the maximum 18 month age limit cars can be to quality for the programme, but the dealer agreed to honour the additional 19 months. -
USED - Cars @TESCO 27 Dec 2011 (Forum)

Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - Warranty Woes 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have a 2007 Suzuki Swift that has done about 6000 miles and has developed an occasional clutch judder. It happens when the vehicle has not been used for some hours, or overnight, but the fault disappears quickly. My suspicion is that the rear engine oil seal is letting-by, and the use of the clutch burns off the small amount of oil. The car has a 3 year warranty. -
ANY - Warranty.manufacturers original 3 year 9 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Having just bought a newish car with the balance of manufacturers warranty, noticed that it is a requirement for warranty purposes to have proof of materials and parts used even when franchised main dealer servicing is done, ie parts AND lubricants. -
hyundai i20 - warranty repairs 5 Sep 2012 (Forum)
There are very few franchises north of Inverness and even fewer in the Northern Isles, but still a sizeable population. Don't the manufacturers want to sell us their cars? -
Paintwork warranties 17 Jun 2006 (Forum)
This is disappointing - my 10 year old Astra with 131k is virtually rust-free. In the 1970/80s Japanese cars used to succumb to the demon rust very quickly but I thought they would have sorted that out by now. -
Car radio warranty query 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I bought a car radio from eBay, it came from Germany (though I bought from a UK buyer). It has two years manufacturers warranty. I thought I had a problem with the radio when I fitted it, so mailed the seller. His response has just come through. -
Nissan Note - Bought used car from trader with numerous issues 15 May 2023 (Forum)
I was offered to check a car, which I’ve made, but it was not possible to have a look underneath the car as seller do not have such facilities . I’ve checked - 4 wheels in place, engine is working, car model is a same as advertised Based on advert, seller has offered 3 months warranty but I was advised it’s from 3rd party warranty provider. -
Renault Scenic - Used car warranty problems 3 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I have recently experienced a loss of power and then the fuel injection warning light appeared right after. It eventually dissappeared and never reappeared by I feel the car still had no power especially going up hill. I sent it back to the Renault dealership as my car was bought from them just under a year ago and the used car warranty was still just valid. They said there was no fault to the fuel injection because they checked the fault history of the car's computer log and it does not show any fuel injection fault in its history log. -
B Max - Gearbox 26 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I asked a question on here about having this work done and there was a suggestion that Ford wouldn’t honour the warranty on a car which had been serviced outside the Ford dealer network. Not necessarily the case, fortunately. Ford will authorise gearbox warranty work on cars which have not been serviced by themselves outside the three years, but this seems to be on a case by case basis. -
Volkswagen - Extended Warranty 6 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Partners VW Sharan is coming up to three years old. Just received a letter from VW offering some kind of extended warranty. Car has had nothing done under warranty in the last 3 years / 45K bar faulty parking sensors (which was the kids fault as they dropped a juice cup in the control unit under the passenget seat - dealer told us it was our fault, but fixed under warranty as "goodwill") We did originaly plan to change it at 3 years, but given the fact its been trouble free to date think we will hold on to it (plus would like to see what the new Sharan is like next year). -

Warranty Direct any good ? 9 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I have just been looking at this website with a possible view to taking out a policy with this company. From what I can see of the small print so far it all looks pretty good - about £35/month for this car that I have just bought. Any views from others who have used private extended warranties or indeed this one would be v. helpful. (Assume I am allowed to quote their name) -

Next car - haven't bought it yet - Extended warranty - what's it like? 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hello I am looking for my next used car on the private market. I have never used an extended warranty before, wondered if it would be worth it, and what other people's experiences were, good and bad. As 10-year old cars are so much more money to buy these days it makes things quite a bit more risky. -
VW Extended Warranty 23 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I feel it might be best to not get the warranty and use a VW specialist garage. the other option is to replace my car with a new one with a new warranty. My gut feeling is that since my car has been quite healthy and has done only 37,000 miles cheapest to keep, and go without warranty. -
