MINI Clubman - MOT minor defect 18 Jan 2020 (Forum)
It's MOT time again and I've just remembered last year although the car passed I had a 'minor defect - repair as soon as possible' due to a small crack in the windscreen outside the line of view. The crack hasn't changed since and I've got limited time and money to get a new windscreen sorted before the MOT deadline. -

The rear screen wiper on my car has a minsd of its own. when I open any door the rear screan wiper opperates. It also works at random times when driving. Often when I park up the wiper works bt stops after a few wipes. It still works on the switch. -
Windscreen ice-preventer? 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Mrs AF bought me a spray-bottle of some jollop called 'Magic Ice-Stop' which I spray onto the car's windows the night before a sharp frost. And it works, making the ice next morn much easier to shift. And now I'm out of it and can't find it anywhere. Any ideas, please? Moreover, as I'm er, 'careful' with money I'd rather make-up my own mixture. -
Rear view mirror. 25 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Any suggestions on how to attach the mirror stopping short of screwing the thing to the windscreen? Cheers - Gee -
What's this by the rear-view mirror? 20 Jul 2001 (Forum)
OK, not a life or death question, but maybe someone has an idea?... In my aforementioned new car at the top of the windscreen, by the rear-view mirror, there is a mirror-shaped (but bigger) clear 'sticker'. Does this serve any purpose? I was in a Merc yesterday and noticed that the graduated tint was designed so that the same shape as my 'sticker' was marked out in black dots on the windscreen too. -

Vauxhall Insignia (2008 - ) - My day out at Millbrook Proving Ground 2 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Chose a Mondeo petrol for giggles as we'd never driven one before. Very small mirrors, the annoying heated windscreen but a lot more driveable than the Insignia petrol. So, a good day, topped off by some offroading in an Antara SUV - very capable vehicle! Would I buy an Insignia - yes, nice car, but it'd have to be an estate. -

MOT advisories - what do they really mean? 21 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Please help me with this one, I am an expat trying to understand what is now the case in the UK having just fallen out big-time with the owner of a car that I thought I had bought to export to France. When the car was put through the MoT test, or DoE test or whatever it's called now, it passed but with a series of 'advisories' including a crack in the windscreen and wear to front suspension bushes. -
East European cars 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
In my part of the country (rural Midlands) we have very large numbers of cars driving around on East European plates - mainly Polish, but also Latvian, Estonian etc etc. On Sunday I saw a very nice BMW on Polish plates - only snag was that the windscreen and front side widows were heavily tinted. -
