Honda CR-V - NEW ALTERNATOR 6 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The new alternator was fine but now the battery light is flashing on for a few seconds. That has happened several times during local trips. I have run with all electrical items on but still only intermittant and short period when the light comes on. I need to do a 400 mile trip and worried about reliability. The battery indicates fully charged but has never been replaced by myself. -
Pushrod design 15 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Old pushrod ohv designs were supposedly superseded in the 70's because of the introduction of high rpm short stroke designs. As newer turbocharged engines are designed to run at significantly lower rpm than those 1970s pioneers, I wonder if pushrod ohv could make a comeback. The main advantage being the camshaft could be simply gear driven from the crank and truly maintenance free. -
Peugeot 307 - diagnostic code 11 Feb 2016 (Forum)
The only thing that indicates any fault is sometimes I randomly get a message on the screen saying ' Faulty Anti-pollution', but the car still runs smoothly. Please can anyone enlighten me as to what these codes lead too. Thanks for any help in advance. -

Nissan Almera Petrol - 2004 Nissan Almera Fuel Leak Problem 25 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I have a 2004 Nissan Almera when I put petrol in at the station it leaks from the Rubber Hose that connects the tank with the filler arm.. The Rubber hose looks ok but petrol runs out out the end joint even after I put a new Jubilee clip on it.. I was wondering if this was a pressure related problem or something similar as the hose was out on really tight and the petrol still managed to leak.. -

Toyota Celica - toyota celica 190 self revving /high idle 2 Nov 2014 (Forum)
vvtli 190 celica 2002.I have a problem when the engine gets warm, when I bring the car down to tick over,it revs at 1500 and blips the throttle to 2000,on off, like someone revving it for you, it then will suddenly change, drop down to 900 and runs sweet, few minutes later it's at 1500 again revving to 2000, could this be a problem with the coolant temperature sensor, iacv? Maf? Can't find. Any vacuum leaks as such, please give me your knowledge. -
Today's head-shaking moment 22 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Leaving the services on the A3 heading towards Weybridge, fully-loaded with tools and steps on the roof so the old Berlingo needed a good run-up down the slip-road to join the traffic. I had to undertake a car doing about 30mph, who then (I assume, as they were behind) watched me safely accelerate up to the traffic speed, using the whole of the slip road ...only to pull out into the flow of traffic at about 40 - 50mph, about a third to half way down the length of the slip road. -

2001 2.2 Vectra hatchback (petrol) - vectra fault 12 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Hello, looking for help with fault on my Vectra, the Computer shows Cam Sensor fault but after installation of new one it is actually worse, and when you hit a bump on road, engine stops, so reinstalled new one, it appears to be some sort of bad connection but Sensor wiringt actually looks in good order, I also noticed that the Engine Management Light on dash is not always on and hitting a good size bump brings it on, When it sgoing it runs smoothly and good excelleration, all appears normal (until the dreaded bump) Any ideas or experience on this curly one? Regards Geoffmalc -
1st car - £3K-£4K budget 20 Jul 2014 (Forum)
I understand the Jazz is possibly a little larger inside than most. My main criteria are probably running and repair costs. Would anyone recommend going for a Megane with his budget? Thanks for any responses! -
ford focus 1998 1.8 petrol - high revving when depressing clutch 19 Jul 2014 (Forum)
My car has begun to rev high when I change gear, it runs ok other than the high revs. I have had the diagnostic test done, but everything is normal. The gagage think it may be the clutch is on the way out as the pedal is very high, the car pulls ok and goes into gear ok. -
Mazda 6 2.2d 2009 - Mazda Engine Failure(s)!! 15 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The first one was replaced at 75000 miles under warranty, the second was definitely due to sludge in the oil blocking the pickup (which has been written about elsewhere in the forum), this happened at 97000 miles and now the crankshaft has broken(!!) at 107000 miles. Total running costs of a Mazda 6 now exceeding £6000 for the last 10,000 miles. Takes some beating? The car has a full main dealer service history. Anyone else with similar experiences of this notoriously reliable marque? -
