Neighbour - no Insurance/RFL 7 May 2008 (Forum)
t=61574 They are still driving around in the Citroen Saxo - No RFL and likely No Ins (not on MID) Nice day for a run so I went 2 miles - popped into the local Police Station and reported the suspicions of No Insurance - the RFL bit did not bother me. In the last 6 weeks Car has acquired a smashed offside wing an is still being driven around corners on 2 wheels and often with 2 x kids sitting unbelted in the back. -
KIA Carens (2006 - ) - Are they any good? 2 May 2008 (Forum)
(I dont sit in cars pressing the dashboard so that really doesnt bother me). The 5 year warranty seems brilliant; but what are they like to own and run? Is reliabilty a problem, is servicing cheap, what are spares priced like? That sort of stuff. Any info most welcome. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - Michelin Tyres Primacy or Primacy HP? 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
The Michelin Website does not narrow it down showing both types but not showing what the difference might be. I am running on 4 x HP versions at present. Anyone any ideas? -
Ford - £5,000 to spend, which Ford estate? 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
A mate is going self-employed, and most of his work will be for his old bosses who are in the US. He'll use the car for Dad's taxi runs, viewing the relatives, trips to airports and offices around the S of England etc. No regular commuting. He reckons he'll clock up 12k a year, he thinks he's best off with a petrol estate, and he really only wants Ford. -
Charging car battery from a car 18 Mar 2008 (Forum)
He's thinking in terms of using jump leads to connect it to the battery in his car. If he does this, will it charge from the alternator if he runs the engine for a while? Swapping the batteries isn't an option. The car in question is a '97 Ford Escort if that has any bearing on the answer. -
BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - Oil Filter prices have tripled. 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
They still fit the cylinder (which is only the textile inner) to current models so they can't claim increased costs for limited production runs. How does one get BMW to justify this increase? -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 2003 2.4ivetec type s - Fitting LPG 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Not taking into account the cost of the kit etc, Is there any reason it wouldn't work, I have been looking on the net at different kits and one company does a sequetial kit, with independant injectors and being run from the cars own ECU? etc etc Does anyone have any advice on which kit to go for if at all. Thanks, Mick -
FIAT Panda (2003 - ) - 2007 MJ: sluggish acceleration. 1 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I was expecting a diesely 'low down shove' with acceleration at around 2000rpm, but it is very lifeless till it gets towards 4000rpm, and even then not as good as the Active. It seems to be ticking over OK at idle. Any ideas? Is this a running in issue? What else can go wrong with a diesel? Thanks Peanut -
£5k...what to buy? 29 Feb 2008 (Forum)
He wants: something with "street cred", is easy and nice to drive, can carry 4 ppl in comfort on long journeys. Reliability and cheap running costs do factor in... I said Focus mk1. He said too common and no "cred". Any suggestions? -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - Focus II 1.6 lx - spacesaver or full size spare? 19 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I'm inclined not to like spacesavers but it does give a lot more room in the boot and will be easier to change if/when the worst happens. The car won't be used for long/motorway runs much if at all so are there any other issues we should consider before deciding which to go for? Thanks all! -
Leaving a 'iffy' part-ex, honesty the best policy? 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.3 Endura-eNoisy Engine. 28 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I know that one piston ring is definetly collapsed on my Ford Fiesta 1997 R reg. I did use some piston sealant on it, which has stopped the excessive smoke and generally made it run a lot better. Starts first time now and doesn't miss fire anymore. Drives well. However, the engine is still a bit noisy, I wonder if anyone might suggest anything that might make it a bit quieter? -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - How do you stop a car from misting up? 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Does anyone out there have a solution, on how to stop a car from misting up. I have a Astra Estate, and the side windows are constantly misted up. I was told to run the air conditioning along with the heater as it would act like a dehumidifier, but that didn't work. There is no sign of any dampness in the carpets or upholstery so I am at a loss as to why it is always misted. -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - leak in passenger footwell 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
It seems to be wet under the bulk head towards the left hand side We were wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Is it possible that a seal around the windscreen may be leaking and running into the footwell as we are planning on replacing the screen in the next few weeks cheers -

Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Fuel filter and biodiesel 6 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I am just starting to introduce small amounts of "biodiesel" (retail quality recycled chip fat - not DIY) and want to keep an eye on the fuel filter (as I understand due to increased solvent capabillities of biodiesel I may need to change it after a few K) before I start putting it in greater quantities, hence 2 questions 1) Has anyone had any problems with running on biodiesel that I should look out for 2) Where is fuel filter and is it easy to access with limited tools thanks -

we seem to have reached a peak of perfection in this country when i was a kid a car was a luxury that was molly coddled if a door rotted your dad got one from the scrappy but it was green on a red body then everyone seemed to get richer and that door was painted to the colour of the car now i see cars with different coloured doors dents bald tyres etc people in the lower brackets seem to have lost interest in standards i see it a lot in the fact that asylum seekers etc will run anything am i getting older with rosy tints or have standards really dropped -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 1.8 Duratec petrol - engine management light 13 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Just passed its MOT with flying colours, not so much as a loose screw, and the orange engine management system light comes on. It runs fine, no difference in performance or economy, I know it's a little overdue for a service so the oil may be grubby and the plugs might not be pristeen, but how seriously should I take it and what's the most likely cause for it lighting up? -
Texaco petrol 2 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I have seen BP Ultimate and Shell Optimax but ignored them due to not needing the 99 octane properties, but would use a 95 octane fuel that is high detergent. Checked the website and found that Chevron now run Texaco. Thanks -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 2002 130TDi sport - Blowing smoke 25 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Also the fuel consumption seems worse according to the computer (which was reset following service). It seems to be a little high on oil , could that do it ? I have only done very short runs since the belt change .
