Qashqai - Qashqai 1st Gen---faults and reliability? 14 Dec 2021 (Forum)
For example, batteries dying prematurely, apparently having the highest breakdown rate of all vehicles in the UK (thisismoney article), suspension problems, premature timing belt failure, windscreen leak---leading to water ingress, front suspension lower ball joints not seating correctly, power steering and rack/pinion problems, etc. Can any users verify this? What have you experienced and do you regret your decision to buy? -
Varnishing point 10 Jul 2010 (Ask HJ)
My windscreen has been spotted with clear varnish used by a repairer for a minor body job. This is irritating as it makes the wipers noisy. What solvent... -
Citroen C5 - Citroen C5 Windscreen wiper 4 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Hi, I have a used 2009 Citroen C5 tourer. Whilst on the motorway yesterday the windscreen wiper cut out and will not restart - it goes up about an inch then retracts. I have looked around and it appears there was a recall on this relevant to my car's VIN number. However, when I called the Citroen dealership they have said there is no such recall. -
Renault Lagina Nevada Estate 1997/98 - Rear windscreen wiper arm 1 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I have been trying to get hold of a rear windscreen wiper arm without success. I found one on ebay but they don't deliver to France where I live - have also searched french websites. My question is does anyone definitely know if there is a substitute wiper arm (maybe from a later Laguna) which will also fit my car. -
Nissan Micra 2003 - Windscreen wipers have a mind of their own 7 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Sometimes when turning on ignition my windscreen wipers will start up even though the switch is in the off position. Not too bad when it's raining, but when dry and they just keep going I cannot use the car. I notice when I brake, they may stop for a couple of seconds then start up again. -
Audi A6 + RS6 (1997 - 2004) - 1998 1.8T cracked windscreen on the inside 16 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Went out to the car today and noticed a crack in the windscreen. Closer inspection shows a crack the starts under the plastic at the bottom of the screen and rises up 25 cm or so in an 'S' shape. No marks on the outside and the crack is on the inside. -
Icy windscreens: ditch the scraper 21 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Filling up a saucepan and going out to the car and back is a lot quicker than scraping away. But does the lukewarm water trick work OK for really hard frosts? Or does the water simply refreeze as you apply it? Bruce -
Rear windscreen wipers 2 Dec 2003 (Forum)
This may have been answered before, but why on the more expensive cars (audi, volvo, mercs and bmw's for example), are there no rear screen wipers? It cannot be due to cost, and one would have thought that the higher end cars would include bit/gadgets from those below. -
Windscreen Scratches 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)

Cracked Windscreen and Insurance 8 Jun 2005 (Forum)
My posh tinted rain sensitive windscreen has an 8 inch crack in it. The insurance policy says my excess is £50 but only if I use Autoglass or Auto Windscreen. If I don't use them, insurers only pay £150 towards the cost. My question is, will Autoglass replace like-for-like, or will they just supply a windscreen minus the bells and whistles? -
How do I remove windscreen scratches? 27 Mar 2024 (Ask HJ)
I have recently bought an 8 month old used car from a dealer. Under certain sunlit conditions I notice small scratches on the windscreen. It looks like... -
Freshen up a tired Honda Accord 3 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I had thought of a new front windscreen as that obviously a bit scratched now. Obviously I'll have a wee look at tyres and brake pads etc, put in new air filter/ plugs etc but I do keep up with these things as a matter of course anyway. -
Mondeo leaking water 15 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I have a 1997 (new shape) Modeo H/B. I had a water leak which caused me to take out front dash and all carpets (the insulation was ruined due to amount of water getting in). I eventually narrowed it down to a panel joint in the corner of the bulkhead just at the lower corner of the windscreen on drivers side. -
Would ye stop doin' that, would ye? 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Reading a recent post about passengers who "help" you by "cleaning" the misted windscreen, rendering it opaque for the rest of the journey... got me thinking: What are the most annoying things passengers do to YOU in YOUR car? Here are a few of my passenger pet hates... 1. Talking - too loud and at the wrong moment, e.g. at life-threatening junctions 2. -
Cant remove Screenwash stains :-( 23 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I used Halfords Advanced Car Wash to wash the car and windscreen but this stuff wont shift. I then tried Halford bug and tar remover on the windscreen (it says it should remove traffic file too) and again this has made no difference. -
Heated Steering Wheel 19 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I should be grateful for any advice on which relatively inexpensive cars have a heated steering wheel either as an option or preferably as standard on a top spec car. That's because my wife has Reynaud's, one symptom of which is icy hands, and she would really like to swap her car for one with a heated wheel. -
Renault Laguna II (2001 - 2007) - 2002 1.6 - Driver side heating fault 3 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hello all. I've a small problem with the heating in my Laguna and any assistance would bw most welcome. The car has a digital control for the heating. All aspects of the unit work just fine except for the heating only on the drivers side. She has heating on the passenger side and thus has no problem. -
Toyota Verso - Insurance Trap useless windscreen cover 5 Mar 2016 (Forum)
have Insurance through Admiral. Windscreen broke but Admiral will only realistically use Autoglass. Complete disaster, after nearly 3 weeks turned up with windscreen for a left hand drive car (fixings for autowiper etc in wrong place) and informed that once they get the correct part the cars VIN plate will be covered by windscreen surround!
