  Very occasionally when braking, the pedal would go down to the floor with no braking. If the pedal was released and pressed again the brakes were OK. Although this only happened at very low speeds, I had the brakes bled, then a new master cylinder fitted.

  I have a Rover 400 two litre petrol "V" reg. The front offside brakes have a knocking sound felt through the brake pedal when slowing from around 20 miles an hour for instance coming up to a junction. If I brake hard there is no knocking. My local garage fitted new discs and pads around 2,000 miles ago and has said the brakes are fine to use but is at a loss to see what the problem might be.

  I have just changed all brake pads on the car but have found that the parking brake is now lose and not holding the car when parked on an incline. Can the parking brake be tightened and if so how can it be done ?
