Nissan Juke - VW dealer 20 Sep 2017 (Forum)
I bought a 15 plate Nissan Juke from Volkswagen Dumfries in Dec 2016 with very low miles. When I bought the car I was instructed that should I break down there is a phone number on a sticker on the windscreen and that I had breakdown assistance cover On Friday 15th September having driven to a Dumfries supermarket 30 miles away the car would not start to return home. -
Insuring a driver from and back to airport 14 Jun 2024 (Forum)
A neighbour sometimes drives our car back from Heathrow and disconnects the battery, then a few weeks later reconnects it to drive back to the longstay pick-up area. Any thoughts on insurance, as the fee for just a couple of hours comprehensive cover on two different days has risen hugely. -
Skoda Fabia - Insurance question 31 Mar 2023 (Forum)
Hello My insuirance policy is for 9000 miles a year, as I normally average 8000-9000 miles a year. I bought my new car in September 2021, and only covered 6800 miles in 12 months, well below the limit set by the insurer. Would I be OK to reach 18000 miles in two years, or should I keep below 16000 miless due to my low mileage in the first year? -
Kia 7 year Warranty 2 May 2019 (Forum)
I recently read somewhere ... it might have been here, or possibly elsewhere ... that the Kia warranty on new cars was 7 years - but that for the final 2 years it only covered engine and gearbox. At the time it didn't sound familiar and when I check the Kia terms and conditions I can't see a mention of it. -
Anyone used 'Provisional Marmalade' insurance? 27 May 2015 (Forum)
Looking at options for insuring my 18 year-old son whilst he has a provisional licence. Among the options is the afore-mentioned insurance company, which provides short-term cover for supervised driving in (usually) their parent's car. Seems a good idea, bearing in mind that the 'lessons' may be a bit sporadic but in 'clusters'. Has anyone used them - or anything similar - as opposed to a full year's policy? -
Alfa Romeo Mito - Suits you sir! 8 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Perhaps something like this: Dealer: "Madam, may I point out how becoming you appear in that red dress?" Customer: "Thank you! But what about my car?" Dealer: "I'm afraid it needs a new engine which is not covered under warranty. Are those Jimmy Choo shoes?" -
Omega - Insurance Documents 30 May 2011 (Forum)
Despite several phone calls an insurance company not shown on comparison sites recently took over four weeks to send me documents, leaving me without documentary evidence of cover. What was my legal position in that time please, if proof had been demanded by our ever vigilant Police? By contrast when I asked Liverpool Victoria to add a driver to the policy on another car the documents arrived next day Omegalen -
Ford S-Max - Windscreen repair problem 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Had a scratch removed from the windscreen but fround that when it rains I can see the repaired area as it seems to be clearer than the rest of the screen, as if the rest of the screen as a fine smear/covering on it. Also the rain seems to stay on the repaired area but dipersies from the original unrepaired areas. The car is only 12 weeks old, any suggestions to whats caused this and how I can correct it. -

Any recommendations for a £6k diesel estate? 8 May 2009 (Forum)
I'm looking for a long-term addition for my shoestring charity fleet, I have a maximum budget of £6000 and it has to be diesel. The car will be used as a workhorse, covering 30k miles per year until it's dead. Any suggestions welcome, at the moment I'm thinking of a Skoda Octavia ( but not a former taxi hack!) or a Focus estate. Reliability and longetivity are more important to us than looks or performance. -
Toyota Celica (2000 - 2007) - 03 1.8 Front brake judder 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Was told the back brakes also had judder and the discs and pads needed replacement - would the replacement have been required as a result of the judder? Should this be covered under warranty? I purchased the car from a dealer with a 12 month warranty. Thanks. -

I have the chance to acquire a car from my employer's fleet, it is a 2004 Rover 75 CDTI with 114000 miles covered, It has been 100% reliable and cared for by a specialist garage. They are asking £ 2850 - I think it seems like a bargain, is it this cheap for a particular reason ? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Comprehensive article on Mondeo TDCi diagnostics 19 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi folks Purchased latest (March 2008) issue of 'Car Mechanics' today, and found the 4 page article on Duratorq TDCi diagnostics really interesting. Explains about injector calibration, and a whole range of other stuff. Worth the cover price if you want to know more about this much maligned (possibly justly) setup. -

Polo TDI - smoking - injectors? 15 Jun 2006 (Forum)
My 1999 TDI90 Polo estate has smoked a little on start up for sometime. Always happens when left overnight. Smells of diesel. Car has covered 70k & uses no oil. Runs well. Gives average year on year of 60mpg. Could my injectors be a little worn or clogged? I'm thinking of trying something like STP diesel injector cleaner. Anyone have any other ideas? -
Another Passat question 16 May 2006 (Forum)
The whistle does not get more pronounced as the revs rise. Does anyone have any thoughts? Incidentally, the car has an AA warranty until August. If this is turbo related am I likely to be covered? Thanks in advance -
1999 Vectra - ticking noise on startup 11 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I change the engine oil every six months. Is there any risk in using an engine flush to cure this problem? The car has covered 90,000 miles. Doesn't burn oil and drives well.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
