  i changed the battery and put terminals on wrong way on battery have i blown the ecu,tryed to disconnected it for 48 hrs but still nothing, i put the key and it wants to start but again still nothing. any help for me please john.

  Going to save you money in the real world. Seems an expensive car to start with and still needs servicing etc. Big downside for me is the battery pack...how much will that be and batteries always seem to deteriorate with time, wouldn't, that effect performance in general anyway. Any thought?

  My 1999 Vectra has no power. Battery is okay but there is no power to turn engine, no lights on dash, no central locking. It's as if the battery has been stolen. Fuses under the steering wheel seem okay. Is there another main fuse somewhere or a Relay?

  Got up this morn , attempted to start '06 galaxy. No go..... battery completely flat.............dont ask me how it flattened overnight ! what I want to know is will it be ok to hook it up to a charger in situ? According to owners manual ..it does not recommend removing battery from car!

  Had to disconnect battery to charge it,and when I reconnected it,the stereo is not working properly,ie only tuner works but not tape.Says in manual that if battery is disconnected that you will need code for stereo,where do I get this code?

  The next morning it started fine so I hoped all was well. 50 miles later in the rain after parking up for about 5 minutes the same thing happened. got a jump start and went home, about 5 minutes of driving and I hear the relays clicking like mad, power steering goes, no lights, no radio display, nothing. Car stalls and we coast into a layby. Again the battery is ready 4.7ish volts, slightly erracitcally so I guess the battery is naff. I figure that if there is a drain on the battery it should show a slightly higher reading when the positive lead is disconnected so I take that lead off and test the battery. 12.7 volts, perfectly full battery, that's not right....

  Happy Sunday All... Any advice much appreciated. Just recharged the battery on an early A Class ('98 S plate A160), and having what appears to be a relatively common issue with the key fob and immobiliser. The battery has been completely flat for some weeks, now recharged without issue.

  I fitted the new Gates belt(and also replaced the power steering belt with a Gates belt ). When i came to start the car it felt like the battery was dead. It churned slowly and then died. Jump started it, went for a 20 minute drive to charge battery. Car drove as normal. No overheating issues or strange noises. Since then i have not been able to start the car using the battery which is 1 year old.

    The sales assistant says that on a winter seasonal service they check all aspects of the battery and not just the terminals of the battery as in a full service.  He admitted that most of the other checks would be covered in the full service. I tell them to go ahead with it (!?) on the basis that the battery will be checked all over and not just the terminals.

  I have read recent post concerning the charging light coming on and that doesn't bother me too much but recently I pulled up at a petrol station and when I came back to the car I had nothing, the car was dead. The girl in the garage had a battery tester and that said the battery was ok so we changed the battery in the key fob thinking that may have been a problem but it was ok. A mechanic popped in with his booster pack and as soon as it was on the terminals the car came to life.

  A friend. let's call him Don, has a Renault Modus petrol automatic. At random, he will come out to it in the morning and find the battery flat or virtually flat; won't turn the starter motor anyway. A jumplead start and it will go, and be fine again for days/weeks. The alternator and battery have been checked by both the AA and the Renault dealer, but deemed fine.

   So Help Please  :-) Sister in Law has Mong Gayo 2.0 petrol on a 99 V plate. it has the smart charge system. Been having probs starting car. No previous warning with Battery lights or anything. The Battery light does as it should in the start up sequence .. If the Battery is removerd and charged overnight, the car will start and run to wherever u need to go.

  Interestingly, the radio/interior light circuit are also dead, but fuses are fine. He fitted a new stereo to it, but again said it was working fine before i took the battery off and recharged it. Any help gratefully received!! Thanks....Jon

  My 2CV which has been stood for a couple of years is refusing to start.  The battery is a bit duff, but I've attached a Booster/charger but will this supply enough juice if the battery is completely kapput? I thought initially that the starter motor had seized as it didn't sound like it was turning over at all, but after trying to start it with the starting handle (don't you love old cars!)

  Until last week I did not experience any problem. But after filling up the windscreen wiping fluid the battery is draining. When loaded in rest position it is onlaoding with more than 4 Amps. By excluding checking I found out that it stops unloading when I remove the BCU fuse. Is it possible that it is caused by spilling wiping fluid on some cables or connectors?

  car has started showing battery light  on always when driving and stalling at low revs around 1000  to 1500 revs, there is also a whining noise at low revs (not gear box  ) once car picks up speed ie 30 mph then car runs fine until i stop for traffic lights etc then car is stalling unless revs are kept above 1500 revs car has only done 35000 miles ,problem started today has been fine otherwise

  ahh what have i done,,another problem with me p38,, this range rover of mine has disabled the engine,,, the remote, i assumed wasnt working,,so i changed the batteries,,,,,no good, the lcd display is saying "engine immobilised,press remote," and if you open the car with the key the alarm goes off,, so now the car is sitting outside with the battery disconnected,, is this a job for the landrover garage ?

  The car is driven very regualry so it's unliekly to be because the status of energy in the baterry is low. Is this a simple warning to turn the engine on so that the battery does not get drained. Its a bit of dumb question which I may well have already answered, however could someone give me confirmation. Cheer EF
