  Just been looking in the handbook for my Focus 18 Zetec 2000 X, and it specifies 2 different replacement intervals depending on whether the car has automatic chain tensioners or not... How can I tell which one applies to my vehicle ?..... Thanks in advance...

  I have a Terrano 2 diesel automatic. Now, original fit Pirellis do not last long but grip well. I tried a pair of General Grabber AP\'s which last forever but don\'t grip. Any suggestions for a compromise tyre?

  My 98 Escort 1.6 Automatic starts normally but stalls as soon as I change gear to Reverse or Drive,mostly first thing in the morning or more so in cold weather. One of the mechanics said it is to do with EMU and the other with its Auto box.

  Is it normal for the electric radiator cooling fan to be running all the time when the Climate Control is on? The car is 2002 Focus 2 litre Ghia Automatic. This fan is extremely noisy and the car can be heard coming from quite a distance. Cheers for any info.

  I am loking for a three year old Nissan QX 2.0 V6 automatic. Unfortunately they almost all have high mileages. Is it realistic to expect a car of this sort that already has 90,000 miles on the clock to cover a further 120,000 over the next eight years without major mechanical problems?

  The automatic dipping rear view mirror [interior] in my Scorpio estate seems to be losing a sort of film over the lens. The cost of a new one from Ford is about £115 plus VAT. Any knowledge of a good second hand one would be greatfully appreciated.

  My wife wants a Automatic Verso. Motorpoint in Derby have them with Aircon ABS, Alloys & metallic paint for £2+K cheaper than list. I have read HJ report and agree they are ugly - but so am I. Anyone any experience of Verso and/or Motorpoint?

  I have found a 320d 2015 with 72k approved BMW used example at £12k and a 2017 X1 18d for £14k with similar mileage. Both are automatic as I only have automatic license I understand 3 series is a much better car for driving enjoyment. But my main preference is comfort and a family car . So I am leaning more toward X1 as I believe it will hold its value better and might be more practical.

  Hi there, I have a Honda Civic 1.5 Automatic VTEC hatchback, year 2000 (Japan Domestic Market import), 163,000kms. The engine is a D153B. LA-EU1. Type G. The fuel consumption has progressively got worse and I am getting between 23 and 25 mpg.

    I have drawn up a short list of some possibles, with some price ranges as this is French market C3 or C4 Picasso (either semi or full automatic gearbox). (17000 Euros new C3 19000 Euros used C4) Renault Grand Scenic III (18500 Euros for slightly used) Skoda Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG (new 20000-24000) Euros other?   I would obviously preferred used but it looks like I have to consider new because the French do not like Automatic gearboxes and thus they are harder and more expensive.

  By and large it has been very good, but there are a couple of minor niggles which I would ideally like fixed before the warranty expires. The first, and most irritating, relates to the automatic wipers. Even with the sensitivity dial on the indicator arm permanently turned up to maximum, the wipers work really badly in motorway spray or fine mist - they just sit there, NOT wiping the windscreen, often letting it get so covered with spray that it is impossible to see through without turning the wipers fully on.

  After some testing the car drives fine until it reaches operating temperature and then the gearbox wont engage first and goes into 3rd, The car is a Phase 3 Xreg Automatic with only 30K on the clock so dont really wanna scrap it. The auto gearbox is not displaying any warning lights about low fluid etc and its not even gone into emergency drive home mode. The car has been checked by my friends garage and he has taken it to an auto specialist. who has checked fluid pressures etc and say the gearbox has gone faulty.

  Anyone have any knowledge or thoughts on the face lifted Suzuki Swift? Daughter is looking to replace her 8 year old Baleno and likes the look of these. She wants an automatic, which I believe to be CVT which I don’t think is the case in the Baleno.. any downsides we should be aware of?

  Re "Small Torque", the most reliable torque converter automatic supermini most people have never heard of is the Daihatsu Sirion. It is a Toyota Yaris with a different body, and ceased to be imported in 2010. My wife bought one new in 2009 and ran it for seven trouble free years.
