I have a Terrano 2 diesel automatic. Now, original fit Pirellis do not last long but grip well. I tried a pair of General Grabber AP\'s which last forever but don\'t grip. Any suggestions for a compromise tyre?

On our Maverick (assume same model) we've had good results on and off road with Michelin A/T (All Terrain). 235/?/R15 I think is the size.
