  • Peugeot - Expert 2002 2.0 HDi - Failing power/boost/pick up 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
No smoke No tapping No Knocks No warning lights apart from the usual Peugeot Airbag Light. The only bad thing I've done is running out of fuel which of coarse made the Engine management light come on, 10 months ago. The first garage I had it in was a fuel systems specialists and he came back with no answers. No error codes.
  • Renault Scenic (1996 - 1998) - 1998 1.6 Head gasket - Again! 1 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Don't know why it went again 7 months later (her partner had been driving it at the time and he's a bit of a jinx). The garage fixed it again (at reduced price). It runs fine in between times. This time there was no big blow up, just just started chugging when hot, occasional bubble in the expansion tank, no big water loss, but evidence of escape round filler cap, runs OK when cold, presumably when pressure builds, water is forced past the gasket into the cyl.
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 zetec misfire/power loss - Help please! 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I've fitted a new fuel filter and set of spark plugs, which has increased the engine power, however it still doesn't feel as good as it was. My main concern is the engine is now misfiring, both when running and when idling. My revs seem to be going quite high when in low gears as well. It also seems to be spluttering a bit when starting up (thought it still starts first time almost always) and the exhaust is 'chuffing' quite loudly.
  • Pedestrain crossings 9 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Exept where there are Pedestrain crossings. In the Joggers thread there were stories about people running across predestrain crossings without looking. - How dare they, they are causing a real danger, creating car crashes! I am right in assuming pedestrain crossings give the right of way to pedestrains?
  • Audi A6 + RS6 (1997 - 2004) - 01 1.8T Over Fuelling ! Audi expert required. 8 Aug 2008 (Forum)
So i had a new Lambda Sensor fitted - still the same, so then had a new Mass Air Meter - Then a new Thermostat and i also had the Throttle Body cleaned - still the same problem, The EML still comes on MPG is awful and a very strong smell of fuel coming from the tail of the exhaust. How can it be running Too Lean when it is running Too Rich ! So my garage put me in touch with a Bosch Service Centre who worked on the car for 6 hours, doing all checks relating to Fuel and Air. The car has no air leaks, all new parts work correctly, Coil packs are fine, i also had the exhaust and cat checked - both fine.
  • Peugeot 406 (1996 - 1998) - 96 1.8 Speedo and rev counter problems 31 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I thought these 2 clocks take their original signal from different sensors so it would be odd to have 2 iffy sensors at the same time. The car is otherwise running fine. I have read somewhere (but cant find the post again) that removing and then refitting the shunt fuse can somehow recalibrate the clocks, as the symptoms seem to be that they have lost their starting point.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Possible fuel pump issues on 2004 TDCi & 2000 TDi 6 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I can buy a cheaper one second hand though and maybe get a local garage to code it ( I'm told there's one near by ). Does the TDi one run a similar fuel pump setup so thus talking similar money to fix? I want to get them up and running as cheap as poss. obviously and am wondering if it's worth just chucking a new engine in the TDCi one as I can get a 30k miles one for about 500 squid plus fitting.
