Honda's new Mean Mower can hit 150mph 4 Jul 2018 (News)
And 1000PS per tonne makes for a pretty fast mower. The work was carried out by Team Dynamics - that's Honda's British Touring Car Championship partner and the team behing the original mean Mower. Rather than just making an ultra fast thing, Team Dynamics says the biggest challenge was making the Mean Mower look and act like a mower. -
Four in ten drivers admit to speeding in 20mph zones 6 Sep 2016 (News)
A trial of 20mph limits in Warrington, Cheshire found pedestrian and cyclist casualties dropped by 36% while a study of 75 different 20pmh limit locations in Scotland found casualties dropped by 42%. And if you need convincing why 20mph zones are there for a reason, Tommy Kenny was just 10 years old when he was tragically knocked down and killed on a pedestrian crossing on a 30mph road in London. The little boy was thrown 60ft on impact, leaving him with multiple traumatic injuries so severe that he stood no chance of survival. -
Skoda Octavia vRS TDI (2006-) 19 Jun 2016 (News)
As a result, it’s nicer to drive day to day and slightly faster from 0-62mph taking 8.3 seconds compared to the previous 8.5 seconds. That said, it’s a bit of a shame that it lacks the aggressive manner of the old engine which was part of its charm. The car we drove comes with the optional six-speed DSG automatic gearbox which works well with the TDI engine, although it isn’t always the smoothest transmission, particularly at lower speeds or when trying tricky manoeuvres. -
Report: Peking to Paris, day 20 and 21 18 Jun 2013 (News)
With the Ford Model A Special hitting difficulty, the results at the top of the leader-board now get something of a shake-up, and Mike Reeves and Michelle Jana Chan inherit third-overall in the Vintageants with their Ford V8 coupe. Trouble also hit car 40, which was regularly in various mechanical trouble through Mongolia, when the engine of the Pontiac let go in the biggest possible way. Driver Willy Van Loon opened the bonnet and saw a large oily hole the size of his fist created by a big internal explosion deep inside the engine. -

Auction Prices Mostly Very Firm Today. 22 Feb 2012 (News)
Someone must have wanted it very badly indeed. But the gap between German prestige makes and good old Fords seems to be narrowing. Two and a half year old 16k mile Fiesta 1.2 Style Climates always used to be under £5,000 in my head. Yet today, a pair of the current model made £6,700 and £6,750. -
Short Supply Sends Auction Price Soaring 21 Jan 2011 (News)
Short Supply Sends Auction Price Soaring It’s not consumer demand that is pushing up auction prices. It’s shortage of supply of good 3-year-old cars from the year when new car sales took a nosedive. But that didn’t mean there weren’t sensible buys to be made today. -
Honest John’s deals of December 15 Dec 2013 (News)
That means you can now enjoy a supercar driving blast from just £99. The driving day lets the participant drive three cars and the supercar list includes the Audi R8, Lamborghini Gallardo and Nissan GTR.Classic road tax explained: Tax bands, 40 year exemption, SORN rules 9 Aug 2017 (News)
Historic Vehicle taxation class The Historic Vehicle taxation class is now a ‘rolling’ system once again, meaning that a vehicle that’s 40 or more years old can be reclassified as ‘historic’ and eligible for free car tax (VED). In this instance, it applies to the vehicle’s production date rather than the date of first registration – an important point to bear in mind if you can prove that your particular car sat unregistered for a year or two before hitting the road for the first time. The Major and The Beetle Exhibition Opens at REME 12 Aug 2010 (News)
Ivan Hirst was a hero in his own quiet unassuming way; a man who not only saved a fledgling car company but a man who’s humanity found a path through the problems left behind by the war. This exhibition recognises him and his work.’ Part of the exhibition is a video display and a unique ‘Beetle sofa’.Auction Prices High, but Bargains for the Brave 1 Mar 2002 (News)
So was £8,775 for a 55,000 mile 2000W Passat TDI SE badged as a 115 but described as a 90. So was £14,200 for a 33,000 mile 2000W Lexus IS200 S automatic. So was £11,850 for an old shape 42,000 mile 99V Galaxy Ghia TDI 110. The fifth car in the catalogue showed a bit, but not a lot, of relief. It was a 114,000 mile 98R Voyager 2.0SE manual and it sold for £5,625. Other apparent overpayments included £3,850 for a 58,000 mile 98S Mondeo 1.8LX, £6,525 for a 41,000 mile 2000V Astra 2.0 DI 16v Club estate; £12,300 for a 39,000 mile 98R Z3 1.9; £16,600 for a 71,000 mile 99T Merc CLK 230K, and £7,750 for a 43,000 mile 99T 318Ti Compact with no extras on it at all.Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 6-6-2015 6 Jun 2015 (News)
Your advice would be much appreciated. The total mileage is 69,300 RHE, Newport, S. Wales Every car needs an oil and filter change every 10k miles or every 12 months whichever comes first, and in fact my 9 month old 308 1.2 PureTech 130 told me it needed a service at 10,000 which I duly had carried out.Frazer Nash sells for £236,000 at Brightwells auction 14 May 2015 (News)
'There is plenty of life in the classic vehicle sector and there are no shortage of willing buyers out there only too keen to have a nice old car or motorcycle in the garage rather than a lump of cash mouldering in a bank account,' he said. Brightwells next sale is on 15 July. To view the results of the May sale in full, visit www.brightwells.com .What’s Hot and What’s Not at the Car Auctions Today 6 Aug 2014 (News)
With traders still bemoaning a shortage of ready to retail 3-year old stock, and many cars being bought to order, bidding generally stayed high at BCA Blackbushe today. But there were exceptions, and a few surprises too. No surprise that a spotless 54k mile 10 reg Audi A3 2.0TDI S-Line with a perfect set of fancy, unkerbed alloys made almost retail at £12,050.Mondeo II For £1,600 at Auction Today 13 Apr 2007 (News)
In the same section a 32k mile 04 Jazz 1.4SE CVT-7 only bid to a provisional £5,800, while a 42k mile 04 reg Picasso 2.0SX auto sold for £4,800. So once again, plenty of sensibly priced 3 year old automatics in the Motability section. Even better value, maybe, was a 26k mile semi-automatic 2005/54 reg Smart Forfour 1.5CDI Passion, sold for £5,800. But it’s questionable why Citroen saw fit to reserve three year-old 06 reg C1 Rhythm 5-drs with 6k to 10k miles at something like £5,400 when anyone can have a new Vibe 3-dr for £5,450.
