306 Spare Wheel 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The spare wheel "holder" under the car cannot be released as the screw and nut mechanism is rusted solid. The car is 8 years old and looks like it has never been used. I've tried oil and WD40 but to no avail. Anybody got any ideas? -
Lexus LS400 25 Oct 2002 (Forum)
The Lexus LS400 is a very nice car and I would like one but scanning through autotrader the cheapest examples are around £4,000 and for that you get a 10 year old car with 130k ish on the clock. Good but way overpriced in the current market would you not agree? -

'05 1.4l Ford Fiesta, 20k miles, - Engine tinckling? Pre-ignition? 8 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Had this car for 6 years and last 6 months have experienced a very, almost inaudable, quiet 'tinkling', like pre-ignition of old. Happens only when high gear, low speed, throttle 'tickled'. Serviced recently and although advised of problem they didn't find anything. -

Yaris 1.0 L - Yaris Kerb Weight 18 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I have a Y reg 1.0 3 dr Yaris and I'm looking to replace it with a newer Yaris. Now the little 1.0 is just about OK pushing my car along, but have the newer models gained weight over the years?. I just took a test drive in the latest model, and whilst it felt OK, it seemed to need a bit more reving. A may get a newer version of the old shape (3 years old), and again is that the same weight as my cuurent yaris? -
Aftermarket petrol treatment? 11 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Been driving my father's car around this week. Its a 2.5 year old Daihatsu Sirion Automatic with only 8,800miles on it. It drives really well, but starting is not quite as instant as it once was. I intend to consider the battery as well, but I wonder if it could do with some form of cleaning out of the fuel system and cylinder heads given its use for mainly short cold journeys. -
Skoda Octavia Combi 1.6mpi auto - opinions... 8 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Hello All, Im looking at a low mileage (30k miles) 2008 one of these with the old 8v engine mated to a 6 speed autobox. I know its very old school technology from the engine viewpoint, but maybe thats in its favour. My main buying criteria is reliability, followed by economy. -
Changing a headlight bulb - the easy way 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I pulled in, and opened the bonnet in trepidation....... Five minutes later, involving removing the old bulb, going into the shop and buying a new bulb (£2.95) fitting the new bulb and closing the bonnet, I was driving away perfectly legally. Why can't all cars be like that. -

Tow Bar mounted Bike Carrier 18 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I have a c.10 year old Pendle bike carrier unit, 2 L shaped poles fit into a block that itself is bolted onto the tow bar. I now want to fit this unit onto a new tow bar to be fitted to a 2003 reg car. The tow bar man says he is not allowed to fit such an old block because of "type approval"(?) -
BMW 3-Series E92 Coupe (2006 - ) - 07 335d First service with a 6 cyl diesel 4 Apr 2008 (Forum)
My 335d has done 11,000 miles and is now approaching 10 months old. The service indicator malarkey in the dash suggests that the first service is due in May 2009, when the car will be almost 24 months old. As it uses next to no oil (never been topped up), I was thinking that this is infeasibly long. -

No more Cover Notes? 7 Jun 2006 (Forum)
The new Dwightmobile arried before my old Car Insurance expired and with only a month left NFU required me to take out a 13 month Certificate instead of simple amendie Reg No. On the bits and pieces that arrived with the new Insurance was a note to the effect that because of MIB database no longer will Cover Notes of Insurance be issued and if premium is not paid before exiry date of Certificate then use beyond will not be covered unlike the old Cover Note scheme. -
Dealer service or DIY? 16 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Question: Should we invest 100 to 150 quid in another dealer service or should I do it all DIY now? Will the lack of dealer service history really effect the value of a 7 year old car? Regards. -
Astra (F type) clutch 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I've just purchased an old K plate Astra for my son to learn to drive in. If I put the handbrake on and let the clutch up the car willstall so the clutch appears to be ok BUT I noticed that if on a rise (on ramp to motorway) and I floor the throttle the revs rise sharply before the speed increases. -

Ulysse/C8/807 7 Jun 2004 (Forum)
There seem to be some great deals for the Ulysse, poverty spec 2.0 petrol for a bit over £13k new. Ever since Fifth gear did the crash test between new/old Espace's where the old one ended as a mess but new one just needed a t-cut I have fancied a NCAP 5 star car for the family. Would running a Ulysse for 5 years plus confirm my previous doubts about Fiat or could it be safe and reasonably cheap motoring?
